Groudon is a colossal, bipedal, dinosaur-like Pokémon encased in thick, segmented plates of lava-resistant skin that serve as formidable armor. This creature has a gray underbelly and large white spikes lining its head, body, and tail. Groudon possesses four claws on each hand, four dozer-like blades at the end of its sizable tail, and three claws on each foot, with gray markings beneath its feet. When Groudon radiates power, blue stripes within its armored seams become visible.
Regarded as the embodiment of land itself, Groudon is believed to be the creator of the world's continents. It wields immense power, capable of summoning intense droughts and triggering volcanic eruptions. These abilities allow it to evaporate water and generate new land. Groudon was celebrated for drying up flooded regions. It can traverse water using magma to create paths and rests in vast underground magma chambers. Upon encountering its rival, Kyogre, they engage in cataclysmic battles. Groudon enjoys Groudon Treats crafted by Snacksworth, who once waved to it during an encounter.
Forms
Groudon can undergo Primal Reversion, transforming into Primal Groudon. This form is larger, with dark red skin shifting to deep crimson and its underside, spikes, and teeth turning black. The tail blades are more spread out, and the Ω symbol appears on its arms. Its eyes, mouth interior, and widened armor plating openings glow bright yellow, with red irises.
The primal form is said to be Groudon’s original state, granting it maximum power. Primal Groudon emits energy as magma, causing its body to shimmer with heat haze due to extreme temperatures. In the anime, Primal Groudon generates new land with each step. This form originated from ancient Hoenn's primal energy deep within the earth. It sustains its primal form by feeding on this energy. Together with Primal Kyogre, they possess the potential to disrupt planetary balance, risking destruction.
