Mightyena is a Pokémon resembling a canine. Its coat is primarily short and gray, but its lower legs, tail, and two thick, shaggy stripes extending from behind its eyes down its body are black. Below its eyes, it has dark, triangular streaks. Its eyes are red with yellow sclerae, its ears are diamond-shaped with dark interiors, its nose is red, and it has gray paw pads.
When preparing to attack, Mightyena exhibits clear signs by growling deeply and flattening its body. In the wild, Mightyena lives and travels in packs, typically consisting of around ten members. Once it sets its sights on prey, it won't let it escape. The pack chases down prey and defeats enemies through perfectly coordinated teamwork. They can also howl together to communicate with allies over long distances. Within the pack, there's a strict hierarchy, and every member follows the leader's commands. This instinct also drives Mightyena to obey only the most experienced Trainers. As shown in the anime, Mightyena tends to lick the faces of those it likes. This species inhabits grasslands and savannas. In Lental, Mightyena preys on Furret.
