Drifloon is a Pokémon characterized by its spherical, purple body. It features two elongated arms ending in yellow, heart-shaped hands. At the bottom of its body, there is a frayed part resembling the tied end of a balloon. On its face, a yellow tape-like "X" mark dominates the center, which includes its tiny mouth. Small, black eyes are positioned on either side of this "X." A cloud-like mass of white fluff rests atop Drifloon's head. Its body contains air and the spirits of lost people and Pokémon. As it gathers more souls, its body expands. If it bursts, these spirits release with a screaming noise. There's a rumor that Drifloon itself may be reincarnated from deceased humans.
This Pokémon is known as a "Signpost for Wandering Spirits" because it drifts aimlessly. Seeking companionship, Drifloon often approaches children, taking their hands. However, due to its lightness, it can easily be resisted and pulled around, causing it to flee from rough or heavy children. There are tales suggesting Drifloon might lead children holding onto it to the afterlife. Despite such ominous stories, as shown in the Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl episode "Drifloon On the Wind! (DP028)," Drifloon can also be friendly and helpful. In the movie The Rise of Darkrai (M10), Drifloon's body inflates when it becomes angry or aggressive. Sightings of Drifloon are more frequent at night, and it prefers damp, humid environments. It can change size to express emotions.
Evolution: Drifloon evolves into Drifblim.
