Ramos is a gardener and the Gym Leader of Coumarine Gym in Coumarine City. He specializes in Grass-type Pokémon. Trainers who manage to defeat him are awarded the Plant Badge.

In Pokémon X and Y, Ramos appears as one of the Gym Leaders. He has a habit of referring to the player as either "whippersnapper" or "sprout." Upon defeating Ramos, players receive not only the Plant Badge but also TM86 (Grass Knot).

According to the TV show Gym Freaks, Ramos has been using the same gardening scissors for 30 years. It's mentioned that he has recently developed an interest in tea, collecting high-quality tea leaves from their places of origin. The show elaborates by noting that in some countries, seeing steam rising vertically from tea is considered a sign of good luck.
