Espeon is a quadrupedal, mammalian Pokémon with slim legs and delicate paws. It has fine, lilac-colored fur covering its body. Its ears are large, and it possesses purple eyes with white pupils. There are tufts of fur around its eyes, and a small, red gem is embedded in its forehead. Additionally, Espeon features a thin, forked tail.

Espeon's velvety fur is extremely sensitive, enabling it to detect minor changes in the air. This sensitivity allows it to predict weather patterns and the thoughts and movements of its enemies. When doing so, the tip of its tail trembles slightly. The gem on Espeon's forehead illuminates when it releases psychic energy and darkens once all stored energy has been expended. Espeon enhances its psychic abilities by soaking up sunlight, making it less effective in nighttime battles. Espeon shows profound loyalty to any Trainer it deems worthy, even said to awaken its psychic powers from a desire to protect its Trainer. Some sources speculate that its powers developed out of a need for self-preservation.
