Dodrio is a large, wingless Pokémon with three heads. Each head features a long, sharp beak and a black V-shaped feather crest. Its upper body is covered in bristly brown feathers, while its lower half has smooth black feathers. The tail consists of three pale red feathers with lighter tips. Dodrio stands on two powerful, slender legs with feet that have three clawed toes in front and one at the back. Males have black necks, whereas females have brown necks; both genders have brown legs.
Each head possesses its own brain and unique personality, representing sorrow, anger, or joy. Despite being separate entities, they can collaborate to collect data, formulate plans, and execute strategies. However, overthinking can render it immobile and unable to act. The three heads often bicker until they get food, which temporarily stops their arguments. One head always remains alert, making Dodrio particularly dangerous when all heads face different directions. Approaching it in this state may result in severe pecking.
In addition to its three heads, Dodrio has three sets of hearts and lungs, enabling efficient oxygenation and blood circulation. This gives it increased endurance, allowing it to run vast distances without rest. It frequently races across grassy plains, even during dry seasons with little rainfall.
