Professor Cozmo departs with either Team Aqua or Team Magma (Team Magma in Pokémon Emerald) towards Meteor Falls, under the impression that they will assist him in excavating meteors. However, the malicious team seizes the meteorite, planning to utilize it to power their machine at Mt. Chimney. After overcoming the grunts and the team's leader, the player has the opportunity to retrieve the meteorite from the machine and return it to Professor Cozmo, receiving TM27 (Return) as a reward.
In the anime, during "Fight for the Meteorite," Professor Cozmo encounters Ash Ketchum on Mt. Chimney. The events that follow closely mirror those of the games. In Japanese, he is voiced by Tomohiro Nishimura.
In the Pokémon Adventures manga, specifically within the Chuang Yi translation of the fourth chapter, he is mistakenly referred to as Professor Starstone. This error is corrected when he reappears in a flashback during the fifth chapter. Professor Cozmo initially believed Team Aqua to be noble heroes, hence he supported them with the meteor and their device on Mt. Chimney. It seems he shares a good friendship with Roxanne, having once been her teacher.
