Gimmighoul is a small, blue-gray, metallic, bipedal Pokémon. It has thin black stripes around its torso and between its gold, circular eyes. This Pokémon features thin black antennae and a tail, both of which bend near the base and end in small gold circles. The antennae vibrate when detecting something significant. In Chest Form, Gimmighoul hides within a red chest adorned with black and golden accents, along with a silver buckle showing an ornate oval pattern resembling the number 1,000 from the side. This chest contains numerous Gimmighoul Coins. Roaming Form Gimmighoul carries one such coin on its back. Both forms exhibit distinct personalities. Gimmighoul was discovered and named by Jacq and Professor Willow.
In Chest Form, Gimmighoul's treasure chest offers protection but hinders movement due to its weight. This form often gets mistaken for an antique and left behind or taken away because of its slow speed and disguise. When someone approaches, Chest Form Gimmighoul uses ghost energy to possess them and compel them to collect coins. It prefers hiding in less frequented spots like warehouses and shop corners to ambush targets. Its control can be quite persistent; an old tale mentions a Gimmighoul making a girl gather 999 coins. It also drains life force from those attempting to steal its coins. After collecting 999 coins, it evolves into Gholdengo. Chest Form Gimmighoul is believed to have originated 1,500 years ago inside its chest and can live in various Paldean locations such as ancient ruins, watchtowers, and secluded islands.
Roaming Form Gimmighoul is among the smallest and lightest Pokémon, created from passion-infused coins. Extremely timid, this form runs away and drops its coin at any approach. Unlike Chest Form, it doesn't manipulate others for coins but gathers them independently. Despite being widespread in Paldea, no one has reportedly captured a Roaming Form Gimmighoul. It wanders constantly, seemingly searching for its former home. For sustenance, it drains life force from humans who try to steal its coin. This form has been spotted in Pokémon GO, tagging along with Trainers picking up Gimmighoul Coins. It can be lured using Coin Bag and Golden Lure Modules.
