Magnemite is a seemingly robotic Pokémon featuring a gray, spherical metal body. It has blue-and-red tipped horseshoe magnets on each side and a large, singular eye. Three Phillips head screws adorn its body: two near the bottom and one atop its head resembling an antenna. The lower screws might serve as feet, matching footprints identified in the Pokédex. Despite being mechanical, Magnemite displays emotions and can reproduce, needing to consume electrical currents for nourishment. Commonly found in power plants or magnetic caves, it also appears in ancient carvings from the Ruins of Alph and AZ's retelling of the Kalos war, indicating its existence spans over 3,000 years.
The magnetic units on Magnemite generate an electromagnetic field enabling it to defy gravity and potentially disrupt electronic devices. These units create stronger fields when spinning faster. Magnemite isn't typically aggressive but may approach Trainers unexpectedly. If approached by a human, it may flee infrequently since it prefers solitude. However, if attacked, it will defend itself with non-damaging moves. Under a Trainer’s care, it can be a loyal fighter, yet it requires a strong bond to stay motivated. Without electricity, Magnemite falls to the ground, requiring battery recharge to resume movement.
Magnemite is drawn to any source of electricity or magnetic fields, including gadgets like a Pokétch or other electric Pokémon. With modern electrical lines underground, attacks on power plants have risen. To deter these incidents, power plants emit signals that repel Magnemite, preventing outages.
Evolution
Magnemite evolves into Magneton, which further evolves into Magnezone.
