Clemont is the Gym Leader of Lumiose City and, along with his sister Bonnie, encounters Ash when the gym's mechanisms malfunction, nearly causing harm to Ash. He shows great care for his sister. Clemont is renowned for creating various inventions, such as the Aipom Arm attached to his back. After the Prism Tower incident damages the Lumiose Gym, he joins Ash on his journey. However, Ash remains unaware of Clemont's true role until they revisit Lumiose City. Clemont has entrusted the management of the gym to a robot he built but has pledged to personally challenge Ash to a battle once Ash earns four badges.
