Bede is a character who appears as one of the player's rivals in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Initially endorsed by Chairman Rose, Bede later lost his Gym Challenger status. Shortly after, Opal recruited him to be her successor. He primarily specialized in Psychic-type Pokémon but switched to Fairy types upon taking over Opal's position.

Bede takes immense pride in his skills as a Pokémon Trainer and his past endorsement from Chairman Rose, constantly seeking to prove his worth. However, he can be quite reserved and sometimes comes off as rude. This behavior might stem from his childhood experiences in an orphanage, which left him with underdeveloped social skills.
