Typhlosion is a robust, mammalian Pokémon with a long, agile body. It's categorized as a quadruped but can move on two legs. Most of its body is cream-colored, while its back and head top are dark green-blue. It features a short, rounded snout, small triangular eyes and ears. When its mouth opens, sharp canine teeth and a thick tongue are visible. Each paw has five digits, and there’s a coarse, spiky fringe of fur along its rear. Across the back of its neck, several red spots produce fire.
When angered, Typhlosion can ignite anything and create explosions by rubbing its fur together. The heat it generates before battle creates a shimmering haze that can hide it. When fully enraged, anything it touches bursts into flames. Though rare in the wild, it lives in grasslands. As noted in Pokémon Sleep, Typhlosion tosses and turns while sleeping. It’s advised to avoid a sleeping Typhlosion due to accidental fire blasts from its back.
Forms
Typhlosion has a regional form: Hisuian Typhlosion. This variant’s appearance is influenced by energy from Mount Coronet in the Hisui region. Its ears droop beside its head. The fur on its back is purplish-blue, extending to its neck front, forming a collar pattern. Fire-producing spots around its neck cover this collar, emitting bright magenta-red flames.
Hisuian Typhlosion moves gracefully and has a gentler, more pacifistic nature than Johto Typhlosion. It often stares into space, assumedly observing life energy flows and searching for wayward spirits and lost souls to consume. It’s believed Hisuian Typhlosion purifies these spirits with its flames before guiding them to the afterlife. Despite its peaceful demeanor, it can unleash ghost flames when sufficiently angered, incinerating opponents until nothing remains. It can emit 108 ghost flames from its neck spots, each attacking opponents while appearing as ferocious beasts.
Evolution
Typhlosion evolves from Quilava and is the final form of Cyndaquil.
