Rather MEH for me.

It's a very slow novel about being rural poor in 1970s China with an absurd amount detail about little things that I didn't care much about. It also has real problems with massive amounts of exposition and exceptionally slow pacing.

If you can get past the writing problems, you wind up with a slow novel that as of half way through doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Bottom line, I really wanted to like this but it disappoints.

Loved this book. Definitely had me hooked from the beginning and the comical bits were refreshing. This was my first read from the author/series. I would love to know how I should read the rest? Anyone have an idea in chronological order?

I never realized it said the end....how can it end like that? I really hope it's not the ending....I've been sitting here waiting for more but I just realized it said the end at the bottom and I guess I didn't pay attention to that last time I looked but it stinks!!!!
