I found this story funny, so i will like to have spoilers
Description
She gnashed her teeth as she faced the abuse from the Imperial concubines in the Imperial harem, forced to endure many calamities.

After travelling through time, Su Yan thought that that ** little bi*ch was right: good people don’t live long and misfortune lasts for a thousand years.

But no matter whichever era she was in, she would tightly grasp the thickest golden thigh and never let go. Looking at it now, it seems that her husband had the thickest thigh.

Till now only modern people were transmigrating back but what happens when an Imperial Concubine transmigrates into modern time? What happens when modern and ancient values clash? Hilarity, action and seduction ensues.

Also, which woman would like to see her lover getting close with another woman even if he reasons 'it's just a friend or I only see her as sister or she's family friend' BS. Not to mention, she knows the other woman has feeling for him, even tho she's not doing anything now, who'd like to see that and risk somehting going on?

No misunderstandings, ML and MC love each other very muchThey have 3 kids, twin boys and three years later a daughterNo dark family secret or abuse from familyMost love rivels move on with their lives, no major face slapping moments. ML is the reincarnation of her lover(the emperor). He gets dreams of their last life near the end of the story

There was an employee from ML’s company trying to hook up with him, and MC teased him saying that he has to admit his wrongdoings. Since ML paid no attention to the other women, he blurted out that kicking the butts of their sons was a sign of affection, and MC was like ... what.

Also, ML asks him a very telling question. "Have you ever actually thought about how her life is like inside my household?"

The heavy implication is that, ML's family might have actually known about her tepid affair with the ex. If they did, her life might have actually been hell and yet, ex never actually thought about it. Ex never, not once, asked her how she was dealing with her husband, her husband's family, how she's being treated, etc. Let me repeat what I said before. Ex is an ass.

While I dropped this novel midway because I cannot stand Orig Host‘s family, I knew all the point you mentioned above. My problem with the family is....
How hypocritical and self righteous they are.

No parents is perfect, some are attentive and sensitive about their children and some didn't even notice when their child get bullied. I won't say they are right or wrong. I don't mind greedy parents, everyone have their own selfishness. But my problem, this family is greedy but pretend that they aren't.

Point;
1) The cousin stated that he did got his position because of MC's connection, but even without MC's connection, he can get to that position by his own effort albeit later. (It sounded like "thanks but no need for your help, but since you offered, I'll reluctantly accept it, but to be honest, I don't need it.")
2)MC's parents and MC's maternal family each live in the house that was given to MC at her wedding. The family narrated: They knew that the house that they currently lived belong to MC, so they didn't do any change to the house, once MC asked them to move out, they will. (yeah sure)
3) When MC was pregnant. You'd think that they'll be happy because they'll get a grandchild but no. The reason they're happy is because through this baby, the blood of Su's and Qin's will flow through ML's family. ML, although was their son in law, but their blood didn't flow through him. ML was still a stranger, but the baby was different.
4) When they were keeping low profile, the narration went like this "they weren't stupid, they wouldn't do any foolish action. In any case, MC was married to ML. Later when they got children, the child will have Su and Qin blood in them, so later on the child will have to respect them as elders." (I think if there's a sequel about MC's children, this family will appeared as the shameless annoying parasitic relative)
They're selling their daughter (orig host) but pretend that they're doing some great goodness for her and that she should be grateful to them. They were deciding her life partner as if they were deciding her major in university...

As for the original host, rather than blaming the family, I was more feeling sad for the original host. Yeah, because MC was distancing herself, it's probably then not her parents' fault. But imagined that someday you disappeared, yet no one notice, no one was feeling sad about your disappearance, because no one know, no one grieved for you, it's like you're forgotten, didn't matter at all. In the end, the one that even suspecting something was going on was the egoistical scum ex boyfriend, while the one that supposed to love you the most (your parents) didn't have any hint of suspicion at all. (me having existential crisis)

All in all, this novel is just not my cup of tea. The interaction between MC and ML was actually quite cute but that family just annoy the hell out of me. If you don't find the family annoying, then this novel actually has a good story.

Read this a while back. Looking at the summary, the first two lines are bit mistranslated. It should be something like this instead:

Basically MC was the emperor's one true love in her last life. He was about to make her the empress when she died. She knew she had his heart (at the time), but wasn't in love with him, because she knew better than to fall in love with someone in his position, who already had a harem besides. But she also knew how to keep his heart on her, because she knew that it was the only way for her to eke out a living in the emperor's inner court as someone who didn't have a powerful family behind her.

IIRC it wasn't just MC's family behind the arranged marriage. ML's grandparents were really good friends with MC's paternal grandparents, and they treated her like their own granddaughter from the beginning. In fact, the ML originally had zero intentions of marriage or starting a family (he was a workaholic who probably thought himself aromantic), but was also strong-armed into the marriage to MC by his grandparents.

In the same line, MC's family knew ML, or at least, knew the standards by which he'd been raised by his grandparents. And thus by their standards (and indeed, by most anyone's objective standards), ML is the best possible husband/son-in-law material in their eyes.

Also, the fact that MC's family never realized her soul was replaced is because MC intentionally avoided spending a lot of time with anyone who knew the original host well, in order to avoid suspicions on her big change in personality. It's also one of the major reasons she never planned on ever associating with original host's ex-BF to begin with. ML was already wierded out by her sudden change in personality, and he was someone who associated very little with original host during their brief marriage before MC transmigrated. MC is also very very very good at reading people and manipulating her words and silences, which also helped throw off suspicions when she was in the company of familiar people.

MC's ex is an ass. He expects her to do everything. Take note, she's married. They did meet even after she got married but never crossed the line because she has strict, moral integrity. Refused to do anything sexual until she divorces ML. So, ex expects her to come to him, meet him when she goes out, waits for her to deal with her marriage, and makes excuses when she blatantly asks him not to spend time with his adoptive sister. Is it any wonder when original soul of MC's body actually gave him a call and said something along the lines of, "You know, I'm actually scared. I'm scared that I might cross the line and do something with you. Can you understand my situation? Can you comprehend what would happen to me if I crossed that line? I'm also afraid that I might actually fall out of love with you."

What was his response? He impatiently tells her he's tired and can they talk about this another day? Hangs up, goes back to sleep. ML actually later calls him on it. "When have you actually taken the effort to take her from me? You know her longer than I do so you must know her favorite places so why didn't you go to her then? You know where she lives, so why didn't you go to our house to have a talk with her? You've never even dared to walk around our neighborhood. Any relationship without hard work is not worth showing off."

Edit: Had to change a line because it was way off.

Eh... yes, the original host's family was terribly flawed, but at least they weren't recurring villains like in a lot of stories with antagonistic families. Their flaws are also pretty realistic, and they didn't show up enough to make things over the top, which is why I have little impression of them in the general sense.

Now if you really want to feel sorry for the original host, you gotta ponder on the existential angst of whether she was meant to exist at all. I mean, considering that the host had the exact same name *and appearance* as MC, and was perfectly poised to marry the reincarnation of the emperor who loved MC in their last life... it's pretty obvious that this body was always intended to be MC's. My suspicion is that MC was supposed to reincarnate normally into this body and have a normal romance with ML, but then something went wrong with the reincarnation, which resulted in some other poor soul stuck getting married to ML who she didn't love, and then MC getting shoved in later on with her memories, before her destiny with ML could be wrecked by a divorce.

Anyway, I think the best part I like about this particular novel is the fact that both MC and ML are blessed with high EQ and it shows. After reading so many stories where the author excuses their dog blood plots with the "low EQ" excuse, it's refreshing to read something where forced misunderstandings don't happen because the main pairing actually work on maintain their relationship and communication.

I get what you're saying now. It gets mighty boring. Also, sorry to the side characters but I just don't care about their issues. The repetitive explanations of why so and so are like this and why so and so did this is just so irritating to me. It's superfluous and contributes nothing to the story. Frankly, I also didn't care to see chapter after chapter about their kids. Author should have ended it WAAAAAY earlier. Right now, I'm just skimming chapters just to finish the novel in MTL.
