I don't buy the stuff with the previous Zaraki's fights. It ruins the shit Ichigo had to overcome. During their duel Zangetsu talked how Zaraki's sword is just a tool and how this is their key to the victory, but now Kubo says that all that wouldn't matter had Ken-chan been at his REAL power level. Also, with Noitora he used his kendo skills(which from what I heard don't work that way, but I digress), not some power up, he could use it from the very start. He later on killed the strongest one(with tagteam with Byakuya) without breaking a sweat and said it was "boring" when he supposed to unconsciously restrain himself.

So while i believe that twist with Unohana was carefully planned I find the mention of the previous fights just made up right now.

I think the same...it's cool that Kenpachi is like some super monster who is just restraining himself and all, but it definitely undermines what everyone else has to go through, and the point that shinigamis rely on their zanpakuto and are powerful because they make that connection with their zanpakuto. But then again, I might be biased because Kenpachi has never appealed to me...ever. Not even when he shed that tear. I didn't feel anything. It kind of felt forced to me...

WTF does the connection with Zangetsu has to do with it.

Since it was deciding factor of the outcome of that battle(or as we were supposed to believe at that time) I would say it was pretty important O_o.

And i don't want to quote further parts of your post because it was pretty much putting the words in my mouths and some extremely overblown conclusions when all that I'm really saying is that I don't like like how the reveal effect belittles Ichigo's heroic stance in that duel almost to the pure luck. Like some other person in this topic*. Sorry, but I won't repeat it for the third time.

The panel you should be watching should the one with their expressions after they came back and said what they said. It was obvious they meant exactly the opposite of it actually being easy. Have you never seen humans to that? We do it quite a lot.

Oh, I'd just talked about this exact situation with one buddy from MAL(feel free to check it on my profile), he also stated that I was wrong and provided... yet another interpretation. Yes i said that, interpretation. We can't confirm if either of us is 100% right(yeah, 'obvious' is not appriopriate word here, well with it would sound better with 'to me' which I admit, I also haven't said in my first post). And if so, I guess that the further discussion on this matter is pointless.

*and to avoid some strange conlusions: I only mention that to show that there is someone who shares my point of view. Others like how things progressed, and I can live with that, just sharing my opinion.

Ha! I wonder if Unohana because a medical specialist precisely so she could train Zaraki in this manner for some point in the future (that time being now)?

If so, death flags, death flags everywhere!

So Unohana is a nut-case too.

Kenpachi was that strong when he was a child... to be able to defeat her.

Ichigo was lucky that he got away then.

Ichigo's been lucky to get away with his life in all the fight's he's been in so far. Kubo always brings out some sort of stupid crap to save him and give him the victory. The fight with Kenpachi was actually Kenpachi's victory, not Ichigo's. Kenpachi was the last man standing, but for some reason he "accepted his defeat" when he had clearly won the battle.

If you think about it, Kenpachi's story is pretty similar to Superman's

His parents put him in a space pod to save him from impending doom on his home planet, crash landed on Earth, was adopted by country folk and grew up to be a part-time business man and hero?

:P

No the part where he put mental shackles on himself since childhood to prevent his true powers to exceed his whims

That actually sounds like Hercules too.(At least the Disney movie... To an extent.)

These overpowered heroes have it rough..
