So WordofGod himself confirms Kenpachi was holding back this whole time even during the infamous first fight with Ichigo, pretty much pooping on all the folks who would bring up Kenpachi's lost to him as a big stain on his resume. Good ol' Kubololol.

This backstory was actually one of the more pleasant ones to watch unfold to me even if it still have some questionable things about it. Poor Unohana, just when she is getting more light shed on her she seems to be taking her exit soon(?).

Kenpachi's power up's through the whole manga being explained, although it seems like people don't agree with how it got explained I feel it's a decent way of doing it. Powering up as he finds someone stronger is an interesting way to go about it and leaves scope for Kenpachi to have further power ups in the future which probably will inevitably happen.

I'm interested as to why Unohana was spared when Kenpachi was a child, it's an interesting thing which could be expanded upon or better explained but i'm feeling it's more along trust or caring since Unohana found somebody who has the potential to carry on the name Zaraki and maintain it for a long time.

I like the development on Kenpachi's character, but it came at the cost of destroying the ruthless beast of a character Unohana was made to be over the past couple of chapters. That is what I, at least, don't like about this chapter.

Now, will he learn to use his sword or is he just going to be a ridiculous boss?

I generally don't like overpowered brutes but Kenpachi is too legendary.

Oh I agree a lot with you on that, I don't like how the ruthlessness of Unohana in the past chapters has been evaporated in this chapter, but then I feel it's sort of ok due to the fact Kenpachi has been developed more and we have known about him and random power ups he gets throughout the manga and Unohana's character has never been explained. She now stands at a point of a maternal person to someone who is worthy of her but it's hard to be worthy of her from what i perceive.

So aren't Zanpakuto given when they join the 13 squads? He's had that same sword since a kid, so this means he doesn't actually have a Zan or did he manage to shank a low ranking Shinigami for it before he managed to release any sort of power from it so it was just a plain one?He probably took the zanpakuto of a normal soldier then made it his own by giving it a soul from his reiatsu (or something like that. It was explained in either last week's chapter or the one before)

a bit awkward backstory ...

so where did zaraki kenpachi come from originally? >_>

i mean what the hell, where's that power from?

soul king's own son or something? roflI was thinking about something similar;

Can't anyone see the whole "awakening of true powers" thing the same as Ichigo's? I'm not saying Zaraki is a Quincy, but wasn't he what Bach called a "special potential" ?

Kubo sure does have a shit-ton of back-stories to tell..

i am always confused about the power rankings in bleach... I mean, really, is there a possibility that unohana and kenpachi are stronger than capt. yamamoto?

yeah, right...

irrational but cool nonetheless ;P

One of the Novels predicted that his swords power was to match levels with his opponent so this was kind of spoiled for me but makes sense.

Kenpachi is the best.

Well yes....that goes without saying.:D I just wasn't expecting to see him as a little kid be that powerful! I'm not complaining I mean he's my favorite character after all.
