The most prideful person in whole soul society just got reduced in completely powerless state - physically handicaped to never be a shinigami again and mentally destroyed by As Nodt. Someone who WOULD WANT to have died because existing after all of this is far more horrible for his lost pride.



If its handled good, tons of character development for both him, Rukia and Renji are possible from this.



At first I hated that he did not die, but the more I think the more it seems that there's far more potential in his pitiful existence than in sudden death.

A good chapter, not too interesting though. I can't believe that Byakuya is still alive, it seemed certain that he was going to die for sure. Good on Kyouraku for being calm.

Yeah he really should be, plus he's been a captain in the Gotei 13 for one of the longest times.

Its usually a sign that someone alive somehow, if byakuya and kenpachi were dead, hell at least one of them was I wouldn't be a skeptic of everything going on. The whole epicness of the  fight and the deaths kind of just went away





They can't find the body because we saw it get incinerated by Bach's quincy spam. Which means:

1. There's no body to heal.

2. Quincy spam DESTROYS souls. There's no one to be revived.



No one from SS saw that happen so they are left to wonder and clearly assume its what happened.







EDIT:

I am loving the set up of Ichigo as "inspiration figure" for SS more and more. There's no bullshit of messianic feat crap like in certain other manga, just a plain white lie from Hirako and how the situation seemed.

Its quite realistic and awesome - Ichigo might not have done anything significant, but he is a symbol of hope and morale for SS right now because of how it all played out.



So when RG will go all "Off with that quincy hybrid's head" on Ichigo, there will be people in SS who would side with him. With the revelation in last chapter and what Ichigo became for SS this chapter, Ichigo is literally the only hope for coexistence of species and end of vicious cycle of genocide>revenge>genocide>revenge.

I agree with you. He should be dead. I'm happy Kenpachi lives.

Very disappointed in Kubo's decision to keep Byakuya alive. Everything was pointing towards his death. Even his Zanpakutou disintegrated for fuck's sake! That's a huge step back from you, Kubo, a huge step back.
