I hope thats Unohana. Kubo did say we would see her fight. She like the only captain that hasnt picked up her blade to fight. I think once she fights she cant be controlled. LOL

I think the picture was Yamaji too. It seemed more like he was playing down the story to Kyouraku (who was just a kid) without trying to scare the crap out of him. Cant be Juha. Look at the painting, the 'monster' has a knot of hair up top. Just like Yamaji.

Brutal BRUTAL death. Love it. Hoping its Unohana in the explosion (i read somehwere that kubo reveals Unohana loosens her braid when she fights, makes sense shes the figure on the left in the lineup) and shes completely lost her shit.

I think she remains calm and polite all the time because she cant control her anger. I mean, to prefer dying to yamajis bankai than angering unohana (as antonnn mentioned)... god id love to see that

Also could be the dude with juha that killed kenpachi since it was off panel and juha was that loyd/royd guy (unless im missing something and juha pulled ye olde switcheroo before yama got there? seems to me the double was a distraction while he goes to see aizen)

Kinda hoping kubo trolls us and goes back to ichigo or something else. I mean this is awesome and all, but if this is the last arc, hes setting the bar pretty high for the rest of it. Unless theres lots and lots of flashbacks of captains dying left right and centre.

This is why Ichigo will be able to beat Juha. Top right panel. Ichigo is a zanpakutou using a zanpakutou.

Here's also the same summery you mentioned, but without Kenpachi getting a new bankai..

hmm, so I guess that guy added the extra line.

my bad, but in a way it does make sense.

Why else would fake Juha say he's a war 'potential' if not for this very same reason as in that he can still evolve by learning bankai.

The monster was pretty much the "old" Yamamoto, the one who would have no regards for lives of anyone and do anything for his goal, the one who "left" after the peace and stuff was achieved. And if he ever had to return, the "gentler"  yamamoto who has bonds and comrades, would most likely not be back.

Basically whatever was happening in the spirit world back then was bad and then Yamamoto appeared, somehow making it worse, felt responsible to solving the problem, leading to quincy formation of SS

Yamamoto clearly wanted to separate himself form who he was back then. To build a government that is different from the way "Divisions" was run.  Different from the way he was.

Its very usual kind of narrative in bushido-code defined characters - Kenshin referred to who he was before his pacifist ways, in a different name and as a different person, for example

dif points of views, you see it one way while I see it another....i think Kubo left that panel up to the user to make sense of it.

That pic was prob taken a thousand years ago back when the shinigami were raging war with the quincies so to me it would make sense that the monster yama was referring was not himself but another

and when I read the won't be coming back part, I interpreted it as he won't be coming back physically not mentally

Maybe I'm thinking too much but that's how I think KUbo set up that page...let our imaginations decide.

Oh well, whatever the case I'm excited for next ch....but I really want to see who was sword D:<

I guess I was not clear as to why I think Aizen wanted to become god/SK. It was not simply because he was born with the most power. Rather it was Aizens entire mentality and ideals since birth that made him strive to reach greater heights. He was not content with being the greatest shinigami, especially after he found a way to go beyond that. You can call it arrogance or pride or whatever, but liken Aizen to Vegita in this sense, Aizen's beliefs were to become the strongest that he could possibly be, no matter how he achieved that goal. In doing this, he would, as a byproduct also become the most powerful being in existence, and after achieving that goal, did not think it was right to be ruled by something when he did not have to. Aizen's beliefs in his own greatness and his eternal hunger and struggle for more power was what made him strive to become god/SK.

And I too think that it was just a very brief waver in his hearts desire on a subconscious level that made the Hogyoku reject him as it's master. But it was in that brief moment that Urahara's kido was able to take effect. In his mind, he never wanted to give up power and rejoiced when the Hogyoku was transforming him once again. Basically Aizen's arrogance and thinking he was destined to reach greater heights is why he was striving to become god/SK. He was so prideful that he thought it was an atrocity and beneath him to have to serve another being.

I think it is both of us that can't get through to each other (yet again XD).

We agree on the 2nd part(about Aizen's loneliness). And I'm glad to say that we do not view it as the standard "I'm alone cliche theme" but as something better. If you have anything else to add in this feel free to do so, but there's no particular reason since we already explained enough(same goes for others).

Am I stupid or do we agree on the 1st part as well? None of us assumed that it was simply because he was born as special. My only disagreement is that he didn't simply want to become the strongest (as you called it) in terms of raw power(we already have Kenpachi for that) but rather the strongest in terms of authority as well. And my own personal opinion all this, I've noticed how you and n10sity have called it vanity and arrogance, and to some extent it is(at least the means to his goal are) but his motives ( to me) are far more admirable than most Shinigami who simply enforce their law and blindly obey central room 46. Allow me to quote myself when I said for Aizen's view that :"I'll be free only when I'll become god". Sounds vain and arrogant indeed, but the basis behind it, in other words him being fed up with how things are and believing he deserves better is better than the rest.

How fullfilling was Yama's death, and how despicably badass can Juha bach be here:

Greater villain than Aizen for me in terms of appearance.

I believe Kubo is probably as tired from the manga as we used to be somewhere at the middle of the Aizen-troll arc. Obviously, he's enjoying the dread and darkness of showing a key element inthe seiretei, as well as most gotei 13 members brutally subdued. He is actually shattering the whole idea that we have been loving, hating and so on with every new chapter, this last one being the great apocalypse with the end of the Genryuusai era.

I am actually currently not as disappointed with the manga as I used to be and this is a good thing (at least in my opinion). The chapters, however, are still too short and need work. I also like how people are actually dying! yey! But am dreading the moment when everyone will be revived a la Nagato from Naruto.

Yet again, I hope that Aizen does kick some a** since he's one of the people I still consider cool, even though I did make quite a lot of fun of him with all the butterflies and stuff. Will wait and see what happens, but we're missing another key element - Urahara. There is also no evidence for the absolute fall of the captains. Many of them have not been shown dead.

One thing to happen according to me:

A whole change in Gotei 13 with a new Squad 1 captain and lieutenant and a change in captaincy in 6th squad with Byakuya gone bad and out for at least several decades.

or

A full revival and so on.. boring boring typical story about how everything is well and no one dies.
