That was kind of rude. I assume you're suggesting that when Negi made a pact with the princess, he gained the artifact out of that pactio, which would be a first, so i can see why that would be confusing, especially since in the last chapter it never showed the front so you couldn't see whose card it was. Here's to hoping his artifact's brokenly powerful so he can stand up to Rakan.

Didn't get it at first (do now thanks to Shadowraze)

Interesting episode... and Ranka's partner is probably someone we know

great way to end the chapter.

now lets get started with all the random speculation of what negi's new artifact will actually be.

at least the patio card at the end is in great quality to be readable. like the card is a jupiter type.

It will probably be a fighting upgrade rather than a weapon like rakan's swords

@Day2Dream: like kitsune_h said, the clothing and staff was already part of his clothing. my guess is with his new pactio, he can now carry his staff and fighting clothing choice around easily now, like setsuna with her broom+maid outfit. but that was his own input into the card probably, not the actual pactio artifact.

Maybe Negi's artifact is a 'wild card', of sorts, that can imitate certain other pactio items, to a degree.

This is, of course, speculation and a hunch, but let's see what happens.

pretty interesting idea on it being a 'wild card'

would bring a lot of twists. but for some reason, it would remind me of negima!? and its suki cards ._.

my guess is that the card is just the pactio card activated, which is why the card he has is bright. then the powers from it will infuse with him, giving probably both strength and speed. which means rakan will update his powerlevel chart again, lol, and make everything off scale again.

meh, speculations. around 1 week until the revealment of his power.

- CCCCXCVI, or 496, is the third perfect number. Now, I do not know what significance perfect numbers have (especially not in religions, ancient Greek texts, or whatever Akamatsu gets his meanings from). It seems however that it is some sort of power indicator, not in height of numbers, but in it's ''logics'' (Konoka has 13, which represents death and rebirth). Therefore, I would consider a perfect number to be extremely powerful. There are near infinite interpretations of meanings in numbers though.

It also baffles me why Akamatsu chose to use CCCC, rather then CD.

- Tonus: Aurum et Rubor, gold and red. Gold, Silver and Crimson are rare colors with rare items. Apparently they reflect the character's birth, development and destiny. To why Negi holds two colors, makes me wonder if this has to do with the power of his artifact, his twist in character, or both. I can only guess. Albireo Imma too, or Colonel Sanders if you must, holds two colors (cyaneum and aurum).

- Magistrulus Magi, I heard this means ''Little Magister Magi'', but have yet to confirm this myself. This might point to an ability related to pactios, seeing as it is somewhat likely that that is a pactio card on that picture. It's best to wait the week off.

- Virtus: Audacia. Audacia means bravery, or courage. Not much to note. He shares this Virtus with Asuna. And yes, a little courage is the real magic.

- Directio: occidens. Occidens means west. Akamatsu states that it is widely believed paradise lies in the west (from an Asian standpoint, that would be Eden). He also states that the East is the direction the sun rises, the coming of a new day, so the West would represent the end of the day. Considering that Asuna is East, you can see the comparison.

- Jupiter, which hardly needs explaining (I hope) relates more to his character rather then his abilities. This astrological sign corresponds to his birth.

Setsuna & Sakurako : In astrology, Sun represents hope and happiness, but also discipline, moral conscience,

ethics & vocation.

Nodoka, Yue & Kaede : Mercure represents adaptation, movement, intelligence, cerebral, mind.

Ayaka : Venus represents love and friendship, sentiment, affection & beauty

Makie & Rakan : Moon represents unconscious, instinct, imagination, spontaneity, dreams, wounds, dreams, melancholy.

Asuna, Fuuka & Fumika : Mars represents impulsivity, aggression, sadism, passion.

Konoka & Negi : Jupiter represents temperance, honor, desires, assertiveness, self-fulfillment, confidence.

Chisame : Saturn represents sluggishness, coldness, sciences, (  personality) change, abstraction.

Satomi : Uranus represents individuality, uniqueness, surpassing, independence

Kazumi & Paru : Neptune represents those who can "become one with there environment" (spies and others guys like them) and those who can adapt their environment

Evangeline : Pluto represents hidden power, surpassing oneself, aggression, transformation.

Negima is my favorite analyzing game.

Impressive o_o. Apart from casting spells and flying I can't think of anything that can be done with a staff. But then again Chisame's girly wand had nothing much to do with computers in some way so I guess the power of the staff in Negi's artifact is pretty open >_>.

Poor people those in the stadium: It doesn't matter if that barrier can whistand a cannon from a confederate ship, It won't whistand Rakan XD

Lol. Yeah it's not Rakan proof xD. What I'm thinking is there is going to be so much explosion and smoke no one will see anything.

Having a look at that card... The staff and clothes are aready things that Negi has. In no way these are different. But, take notice, that in the pactio card, Negi is holding another card. This is the only new thing that Negi is holding, therefore, we must presume that the artifact is the said card he is holding. This, by itself, doesn't make too much sense, but here's what I think.

Maybe Negi's artifact is a 'wild card', of sorts, that can imitate certain other pactio items, to a degree.

Pretty sharp eyes those you have, and an impresive sense to predict the incoming. I congratulate you for your succesful guessing XD

PD:Seriously.

Don't tell me Kotarou and Negi kissed? Hahah

But why would Negi have his own card.

Hmm..

totally, lol.

well that clears up what his pactio says. just need to wait for the actual chapter to come out to find out what his new upgrade is.

didnt expect him to pull it out straight from the beginning of the fight though, but cant help it if hes up against some power freak.

and glad that the manga isnt 'taking a week break to gather data for next chapter'
