5/5
I wouldn't have end it any other way. I'm glad they didn't take the "everyone gets married and has kids" route like...almost all series does. Though some of the ships sailed, I was surprised that Gajeel and Levy were more further along in their relationship than anyone else.
From pinning your significant other to a tree to getting her pregnant. Gajeel is a real man. Speaking of a real man...Seems like Laxus is being shipped with everyone. That's the boss right there, he's too sly to be tied down to one person.
I also liked the Juvia and Gray moment. I thought it was cute that Gray was for once embarrassed about someone else's undressing habits. Then he proclaims Juvia's body as his. Loved it.
That Mavis and Zeref cameo was nice though it doesn't even make sense.
Like Lucy, the ship I was most worried about was Jellal and Erza. Fortunately Jellal is pardoned of his crimes...which led to Erza actually brushing her hair everyday now. Thought that was nice.
That end bit with Natsu and Lucy was expected. I honestly believe that Natsu is too dense to be in a relationship and would actually require education in it haha. Oh well. Now on to a 100 Year Quest!
Anyways, I'm truly going to miss this series. I love it dearly and it's one of my favorites of all times. On my shitty days, I like to re-read my favorite moments. This series had some powerful and emotional moments that I even used in my real life situations. I take all the lessons that each character learned to heart and for that I became a much better friend when originally I was a selfish little fuck.
I was 16 when this started and I'm 27 now. It's been with me my entire adult life thus far. It hurts to say goodbye after all this time. But everything has to end sometime. I'm just really happy I picked this up and enjoyed the ride (for the most part).
The thing that I loved about Fairy Tail the most is how eerily similar the characters were with myself and my group of friends. I was a watered down Natsu back then. I'm more of a Laxus now since I rarely speak and I randomly show up out of no where after being gone for long periods of time. But my group of friends had a Gray, Juvia, Mirajane, Gajeel, Lucy, Erza, Cana and Elfman. We always talked about cosplaying as our respective characters for halloween. Maybe we should do that this year.
8/10- Now that I got that out of the way, I'm sticking by the score I gave it this entire time. I'm a little biased here since of how my friends and I are heavily invested in these characters but hey, the whole goal of connecting to the characters were achieved rather well.
I must admit that this final arc was lackluster in terms of proper story telling but it definitely did not lack any drama or action. The power of friendship is this series' bread and butter since Day One so expecting something different is practically telling the author to change his views. Like Fairy Tail, Hiro stuck with his ideals which I applaud him for that even if it doesn't make exceptional stories. The conclusion of the arc was expected and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. I just wished it didn't felt so rush and the battles lasted longer rather than 2-3 chapters (Or 1 episode if it was an anime).
Despite how all the false deaths, this arc is still not my least favorite story line. For me, and this is just my opinion, the worst story was the Edolas one. I legitimately put this series on hold for a few months because of how annoyed I got with that part. I would score the Final Arc 5/10 but that Edolas one was a 2/10 for me.
Finally, my favorite arc is the Grand Magic Games/Dragon King Festival and the Tartaros Arc. Those were great and I was heavily invested in that. Those two story lines were a 9/10 for me. I just loved it.
On to Fairy Tail 2018! See you there!
