well Yes Gray didn't have to use his devil slaying and he knows how dangerous that power is but that's the main reason why he had that in the first place, it was his trump card in defeating END but instead of controlling that demon slaying power, he let the demon/power control him therefore losing his sanity again due to juvia's death and his past traumas hunting him and now natsu being END, this dude snapped.



I remember how much hyped I was for a Natsu vs Gray fight,after the end of Tartarus arc.Now,with the current arc after all this stupid pointless melodrama,"sacrifices"(except Sherria's lost magic),boring oneshots and now this fight that started for stupid reasons from both sides killed this hype for me,with the direction this whole arc took.If this arc doesn't end any time soon,I can see people who will stop hyping this manga,even when Acnologia appears for a fight.

Alright again, gray doesn't really make sense and is stupid right now, because he is not on his right mind. and yes I agree that it's not Natsu's fault, and also at first I was like "Gray why can't you just freaking kill zeref???" since he started it all! but the fact that he lose his sanity and that he's so focus and obsess at the one task that his father gave him which is defeating END is the reason why he is fighting his best friend right now.

He didn't inherit the powerup, the powerup Gray got was transferred to him. We see transferred magic all the way back in Tenrou. Suggesting it's an asspull, when it's well explained, foreshadowed with consequences, is just laughable.

More like reasonable fan of the manga detected, because unlike you I see the inner line of things that happen in this manga, why a character acts like he does, and why suddenly a character pulls a 180 degree of change. It's called looking at the bigger picture, something that a low level intellectual won'tbe able to pull off. If you're not sane, it means you can not doing anything reasonable, because your mind is fucked up, and preventing you to do the sensible thing. So him tagging team with Natsu isn't exactly someone with a sane mind would do.



Put yourself in Gray's shoes, and think for a moment. YOu had your girlfriend dead in your eyes, your mind is fucked up by your magic which Invel foreshadowed, losing every bit of sanity in you and then perceivingly when your mind is fuck, you start beliving your best friend lied about his own existence, and he feels super betrayed by it. Not to mention your emotions are all over the place. and you get the picture.

LOL Natsu isn't holding back, read the panels again. He said he isn't holding back on Gray. Both of them didn't even use their spells, Gray didn't use a single spell, a secret nor his trump card, so he obviously isn't using his full power, otherwise Natsu would be a dead body by now lul.

There´s one scenatio I could imagine in which it would make sense, that being Gray reluctant to kill Natsu, but being forced into it due to Natsu being unstable and possibly harmful to their guild.



That ofc being shown for a change and not just talked about like it usuall is with Fairy Tail. A good example would be Natsu critically injuring Juvia by himself due to a lack of sanity and possibly also injuring Lucy in the process.



The current scenario is bullshit in the sense that Natsu is only guilty of being one of Zeref´s demons (or whatever currently) and Gray having promised to kill said demon. This is the equivalent of an action motivated through racism or different prejudice. Natsu himself hasn´t done anything yet.

But neither has Natsu any motivation to fight Gray, it´s plain stupid.



The only way this scenario can make sense is if both of them are currently possesed or on drugs and therefore not responsible for their actions.

Things are finally getting interesting again and there is some consistency in this arc for once! Usually after major events that occur in one chapter, the next becomes a dud. Most recently that happen with Juvia's sacrifice who came back the next chapter.



I'm finally really  excited to see what happens next.
