I do realise Hiro's formula enough to bore me down and it almost made me drop the series 3months ago, BUT for some reason, this arc looks more serious and a lot more interesting than anything ever.
We always get enemies hyped, it's not only Hiro's but almost every shounem manga, it's like a law, but this time the enemies actually look promising for several reasons, one is the fact that they're directly leaded by Zeref himself, that alone makes it look like you deserve more respect than anything.
The villain group also looks more promising since it's not only them hyping themselves but for the Spriggans to be hyped by Zeref and the 3Kings of Ishigar, that's not something that should be taken light.
I'm gonna try to explain the way I saw Tartaros, for me they were no different that Jellal or GH, everyone is after Zeref, Zeref is the answer to everything and everyone should search for him, that drama got long gone and it was boring as hell, it's like a child searching for their parents for me and then Tartaros treat to wipe MAGIC of the ENTIRE WORLD, but amazingly enough FT are the only ones worried about this, funny huh.
Anyway the Tartaros arc for me was never something good, hell, I barely remember what happened there and I didn't even bother to worry about Avatar, from the very beginning of that arc, most of us knew it was just a light-arc, like a filler, I don't think many people cared about that one.
Well you´ve gotta give Hiro credit where he deserves it, read between the lines.
There is some foreshadowing in those lines that the Spriggan mean nothing to him, a Koopa is still a Koopa, they are in the way towards the final boss, but they don´t differentiate too much.Fairy Tail started off as an episodic series with an adcenture like tone and narrative, like One Piece. But since the Oracion seis arc and actually tbh since Tower of heaven everything can be tracked back to Zeref. The story is a consistant thread leading the cast towards this guy.
He´s the stories greatest asset but also it´s greatest weakness. He´s such a well rounded character that everything pales in comparision to him.
It also gives off the feeling that Hiro didn´t really plan out on everyone else, most villais motivations feel shallow and boring because they are just empty vessels to look/behave cool and relate in some way to Zeref. The Oracion seis mostly got their character development after turning good.
Hell I bet Hiro even came up with their history after they were turned in and even invented Yukino just for the sake of giving Angel an identity, outside of that nasty bitch that doesn´t value her spirits.
If I turn out to be right the final message of the manga will be.
Gods = enforce fates, make destiny absolute (religious motive)
Humans = Forge their fates, create their own destiny, therefore deny the gods.
(fairytale motive).
