People here will never be satisfied. Yes they did hype the sand guy up to be really strong but we didn't really know how strong Erza is.

And style makes fights. Erza did lose instantly lose to some random goon earlier in the arc but she was gimped so we didn't really know how strong Erza  was if she fought someone who couldn't gimp her completely.

What if Erza loses straight up? Would people really be happy with that either? Yes this conclusion left something to be desired but if Erza lost (assuming she is probably among the strongest of the protagonists in this arc), how would they get out of this pickle?

Do you want Jellal to come out of nowhere to save them? Jellal probably will come out of nowhere to save the day later on anyway but I doubt Jellal and his group will be enough to help take down the 12 anyway. Even now I don't know how the protagonists are going to have a chance and Erza already took down one of them (probably).

In the end the biggest mistake wasn't that Erza won, it was that the 12 were massively overhyped by Hiro. By making them too powerful, Hiro will have to pull off some pretty lame moves to kill them off anyway and considering the current situation I have to say that it isn't going as bad as I thought it was going to go.

No the mistake was that Erza somehow was not hit by the ENORMOUS beam of Jupiter while Ajeel had her by the throat. That beam was big enough to VAPORZE THE OLD GUILD BUILDING! and you're telling me it';s small enough to only hit AJEEL? fuck no

not a bad chapter i guess... not sure how to feel lol. i think it was safe to assume nobody wanted 1v1's with these guys and you could argue this wasnt but i kind of expected jellal to save erza on that one but 2 chapters next week will be nice :D

I was hoping that Morning Star referred to Jellal (heavenly body magic and all...) but instead it's another one of Erza's armors. Oh well, at least Erza didn't win alone so that's good.

When are the other guilds going to show up? And Gildarts too. He's just waiting to make a flashy entrance, isn't he? I want to see Crime Sorciere show up. Erza specifically mentioned that they're going to come so I'm really hyped up about it.

Next chapter is "Weakness". That could refer to almost anything. Guess I'll just have to wait for another long week. Sigh...

@Isterio ft might just end on chapter 777 lol

But in all seriousness there's a lot of things that still need answer.

For what its worth ft is enjoyable, some bs here and there, some missplaced fanservice but its enjoyable.

To me the most interesting part are the mysteries, if anything Hiro does a good job of foreshadowing stuff. Natsu being older than it seems during the Laxus arc.

Lumen Historie, Natsu being E.N.D.

Ultear appearing since chapter one always popping up and her story getting resolved during 200+chapters into the story on Tenru island.

The main complaints come from his payoffs.

Would you have assumed that Lumen Historie is just an infinite mana supply?

All the reveals around Zeref have been interesting however and they still keep me guessing.

I also still wanna know what the deal with the Dragons is and if I´m right that all the Dragon Slayers are 400+years old. It could also be complete bullshit once again.Layla´s story is one of those mysteries I can´t figure out, that keep me reading.

I also mentioned a while ago, Hiro´s main issue is the sheer size of his cast, he has the same problem as Kubo currently. While Kubo fails to showcase his MC enough because of the huge cast and the attention he tries to give all of his characters. Hiro does the opposite, he focuses too much on the main cast, while giving us glimpses of everyone else occasionally that makes us wanna know more, but he never commits.

I appreciated the Strauss siblings flashback during Tartaros, but it did open some questions I´d like answers towards. When did their parents die? If they didn´t die? Why were the children abandoned? How does magical affinity work? All 3 siblings are capable of magic, but some FT members mention during Tenru Island only 10% of humanity are even capable of using magic. Were both their parents mages?Personally I don´t really care about most parents and we even got to see the fathers of Cana, Gray, Laxus and Lucy, I doubt we get to see Erza´s parents and I don´t really care because I know their fate and why they´re absent. Wally and Richard lost their parents when young to the absent parents disease, the same goes apparently for Kagura and Simon, it´s confirmed they were dead before Zeref´s cultists attacked Erza´s village and even if not you can blame them, with Yukino and Angel for example, that´s the case. However for the Strauss siblings this seems like a missed opportunity as they are part of the primary sidecast (Team Tenru). Just say they died in accident when Lisanna was an infant and Mira grew them as a foster mother afterwards. It would have taken one panel to write that during the flashback and given Mira so much more character, who is already underdeveloped for a character that get´s cockteased all the time.

I don´t care about Max Wakaba or Macao as they are meant as filler, but he should at least deliver on his Tenru sidecast, he keeps cockteasing all the time.

The whole Tenru group excluding main cast are 14 people, he keeps cockteasing us since their introduction. Add Crime Sorcière to that and you got 21 people Hiro keeps cockteasing the audience with, while giving us the 50000 Lucy ass shot or Natsu punch. We know some of their backstories, apparently they are all connected to one another and they are all meant to do something awesome.

Guess what? None of them ever does.

If he really intends to give all those characters the exposition he´s teasing he´ll need at least 40+ pages just for their exposition, if he hasn´t forgotten about them and his setups.

Although you could cut out cana and Gildarts from that list as they got their story arcs. Makes still 18 characters+ Sidecast like Yukino Sting and Rogue.

Considering Brandish said all other 11 (now 10) Spriggans are of her strength (including Ajeel), if that's what it takes to beat one...

I'm kinda lowering my expectations for now... is what I'd like to say. I guess Ajeel was the grunt of the group. I'll accept the win by Erza for now..

Let´s be honest he took two jupiter canon shots.

Ofc it´s a Shounen manga and it gets downplayed/overhyped on demand.

*cough*Pell explosion*cough* Happy Afro*cough*

Not sure if I can accept this win to be honest. I hate how they hype up villians then it only takes 3 hits for them to be defeated.

Edit: Sorry, but how the fuck did that laser magically miss Erza? The power of bullshit saves the day once again. Also the fact she could re equip despite her energy being drained. Nakama talk saves the day once again!  "My allies will never fear you! So let me magically re equip cos reasons, which signals Bisca to snipe Ajeel, but not me!"

Piss poor chapter and I'm disappointed, 1/5.

@PwnDEnd not sure but can't the armour absorb the light or smth..

We know nothing about her light armor as it´s the first time she uses it.

The last time she had to block a Jupiter shot she didn´t use the light armor but her fortress armor or whatever, because it had the highest defensive capabilities.

However. "The armor of Nakagami is meant to bent the rules of magic".

With a vague description like that you can make it do anything till we get a clear explanation.

Erza´s armor concept is based on Haru´s sword from Ravemaster, among  it´s abilities there was a sword that could cut all immaterial things(magic/elements) but was useless in physical combat. I dunno what Hiro is trying to go for with the Nakagami armor but it seems to be a similar concept, just without the drawbacks, making it dumb, as that drawback was what balanced Rune save( the sword) out.

Well....at least she needed an assist to deliver the finishing blow, by Erza standards this is a step up.
