Fairy Tail Chapter 385 Discussion

Finally Lucy has been giving an acceptable powerup. She isnt useless anymore! Good for her (and us IMO) she was getting dangerously close to being as useless as Orihime. Liked this chapter pretty much! 4/5

If Lucy has Aquarius' powers permanently then she's no longer only a holder type, she's a caster type like juvia + a holder type celestial mage~

You all noticed she now has aquarius' Tattoo right? The one across her collar bone? It's part of her chara design now, feels permanent

It  would totally be like as if Natsu somehow got Lightning upgrade...oh wait. He did.

Having two characters capable of using same elements does not somehow take away uniqueness - Juvia is MADE out of water. Lucy with aquarius powers seems to manipulate water.

If anything, it would make for a quite badass team-up.

It is also hilariously ironic since Minerva humiliated Lucy by constantly drowning her. I so would love to see a rematch between the two lol

It's not about the elements, It's about the OP range of solutions. Like I said before:

It's enough for now since she:

* can summon and keep 3 spirits at the same time,

* do the 88 stars attack (at the games the attack failed due to outside interference, however current Lucy -"self-power" wise, not counting Aquarius power- should be able to do it without Gemini help)

* got that celestial whip,

* has the bonus of having each spirit specialization...

...

I think however that she should have kept Pisces and Libra keys in order to get the full set... maybe she'll get them in this arc in order to fight the demons.

...

No other character besides Lucy has such a vast and diverse range of solutions at their disposal.

If you permanently add Aquarius attack, it would effectively mean she would be able to control 4 (!!!!) spirits at the same time, when the most powerful celestial wizards were only able to control at max 2 spirits at the same time. All while keeping the 88 stars attack and the celestial whip.

It's too overpowered, not even the dragon-slayers with their mixed elements mode are able to compete with this.

All of Lucy's abilities are one-time-use attacks that require prep and 99 times out of ten do not work, leaving the user vulnerable. Out of all of her attacks, only Urano Metra ever truly works, but her low durability makes it impossible for her to use.

Natsu alone has at least 20 different variations of attacks, dragonforce, two elements and god knows what else. And he seems to learn a new attack every single arc.

Erza has over thousand of armors for each situation.

Same for Mira.

I can help but feel there's some sort of sexist bias in your post.

Yeah, this series is much better if you don't take it seriously.

She got that DBZ M (Majin) tattoo on her neck/boob area lol.

That's aquarius tattoo. Its pretty much her defining zodiac sign symbol too.

Aquarius also had one:

^this

This arc specifically seems to have positioned celestial spirits as natural enemies to the demons.

Chances are the endgame will be her getting traits/abilities from all golden keys, in order for the good guys to stand against whatever the endgame villain will be.

Especially likely considering after whom she is modeled. And this scene is VERY reminiscent of where the said characters gets her
staff and goes from relatively-strong to incredibly overpowered, eventually being used to
defeat the final villain, which, hilariously, is a  giant apocalyptic dragon thing . . And considering the twists and turns with that character in the final half of RAVE. As I said before I will endlessly  laugh though if  Hiro pulls the EXACT SAME TWIST with her and her mother though  as they did with above character(the whole
Ellie starting out as a bit passive but mostly normal sidekick to the male hero, spending whole manga searching for clues about Resha the Rave Creator, who looked like her and had similar powers, various characters comparing her to Resha or saying how different she is from her, Ellie  eventually inheriting Resha's staff and gaining massive power-boost from that, only to find out near the end that
she IS Resha  and Resha set up this whole crazy batman-level of plan in order to fake her death and hide away in the world till she can kill a certain person. And then she started one-shotting the final-villain-tier enemies.)

So yeah, if Mashima's about to replay that kind of scenario, power levels will go absolutely crazy in this manga from now on.
