Popular Reviews
There are around three or four stories that make up the entire volume, but I'll focus solely on the first one—set during the summer holidays of 1996.
Man, I'm absolutely head over heels for this story. It's just perfectly, absolutely my type!
On the first day of summer, four women gathered at the Yamamoto house. They were all there because of a letter from their ex-boyfriend, Hiroyuki Yamamoto. It turns out he left the countryside for Tokyo long ago to chase his dream of becoming a successful musician. There, he met the three greatest loves of his life—women he never forgot until the day he passed away.
At his house, the women cheerfully ate, slept, and talked together. Even though they shared trivial things about their mutual ex-boyfriend, they always smiled gently and listened to each other with comfort.
Each story unfolded gradually—sad, regretful, heart-breaking, silly, crazy, and nostalgic. Regardless, Hiroyuki remained their forever love. And in the final story, at the moment where their memories intersected, Hiroyuki appeared one last time to bid them all farewell. Farewell to their regrets, leaving sadness behind so they could move forward with their lives.
In the end, the three women who came from Tokyo returned to their present homes, leaving the fourth girl with a hopeful future ahead.
The manga is short, and the panels can sometimes feel messy, making it easy to lose track of events. But to me, it's still a quiet classic.
"Ah, men are silly."
"They sure are."
"Because no matter what happens, women always keep living."
Edit: ok I was pretty harsh on dark demon but white gawd is f'ing hilarious. Completely broke my immersion. Stupid name but funny stupid.
