When people talk about \"love\", this feeling seems so distant and even impossible to feel. Would our protagonist be able to warm his heart in the midst of the ice that consumes him?

Overall, if you're searching for more content within the Darker than Black universe, you might want to skip this one. The plot, which presumably occurs during or before the first season, isn't essential for understanding the series as a whole, offers no character development for the main cast, and DEFINITELY won't resolve any of the major questions left hanging by the season one finale.
However, if your fantasy involves seeing BK-201 and November 11 engage in battle as pretty-boy characters, then strangely enough, you're in luck...

That’s literally all I want to know. There's a guy with the ability to control water, and somehow Yin is completely absent from the picture (!?). For a Season 1 side story that includes Mao and Huang, this feels... unacceptable, doesn't it?
On a different note, the story itself was decent enough, I suppose. Even people who dislike Season 2 might rank that story higher than this one. I'm relieved I got this for a bargain price, and it definitely has that Darker than Black vibe (personally, I thought the art was fine; clearly, not everyone agreed). However, the second half becomes overly chaotic, disrupting the atmosphere carefully crafted in the first half. The main female character also gets sidelined somewhat. At times, I lost track of why she was still part of the narrative—it felt like her arc had already concluded, yet she was dragged along anyway. If this were an anime, I'd suspect the writers struggled to find a proper ending. (Sound familiar? Didn't Season 2 have a similar issue?)
In summary, it's quintessentially Darker than Black, more or less. Just to clarify, it isn’t tied to the main anime continuity. And yes, if you're here for Yin, prepare for disappointment—she doesn't make even a single appearance. Who knows what they were thinking?
