On the last day of summer break, third-year student Sano Rika stood alone on the school rooftop, watching the sunset. That same night, she jumped.

When classes resumed, no one spoke about her. The teachers ignored the empty seat by the window. The students moved on as if she had never existed. But I remember her. I remember the way she looked at me that evening, the way her cold fingers brushed against my arm.
