And this saga takes place in a alternate 16th century Europe where the 100 year wars were ended by an event called "The writ" establishing a new monarchy lead by Queen Elizabeth the 1st and the church protecting the people from untold horrors, monstrosities, demons, and Witches by any and all means.
Two decades later the fate of a child was stolen when the queen showed mercy to her assailant under the condition she would pelage undying loyalty and hunt down her own kind, Also creating soldiers to do the same. It was this choice that started it all and 40 years later is where our story starts.
