I despise this. Let's address that right away. I genuinely

The world and the magical system in this novel are intriguing; I found the protagonist's adventures captivating, and several supporting characters, like Liselotte, kept me engaged. However, to truly appreciate this story, one must possess immense patience. Our main character, who reincarnates as an orphan with retained memories, showcases typical isekai protagonist abilities, rescuing a princess from bandits and subsequently attending a noble academy. Unfortunately, he faces relentless bullying, eventually leading to a false accusation and expulsion.

Despite the trials, he maintains composure and embarks on a journey. In terms of relationships, his affections remain fixed on his childhood friend, having unintentionally friendzoned multiple potential love interests. It's unclear to me the purpose of introducing so many female characters if he consistently avoids pursuing them.

What frustrates me is the author's penchant for dragging out predictable plot points. For instance, the reunion with his childhood friend, who also arrives in this world, is repeatedly delayed, despite being a major plot twist. I found myself eagerly anticipating their connection to be resolved, only to have it continually postponed.

When he finally gathers the courage to confess, yet another obstacle arises, causing the declaration to be delayed once again. And to make matters worse, a love rival intercepts his heartfelt letter confessing his love and kidnaps the女主角, lying about the situation to others.

In conclusion, this novel tests one's patience due to the numerous obstacles and delays in resolving key plot points, even when the outcome seems clear. If you're up for a slow burn and can handle the setbacks, then you might find enjoyment in this story.

In summary, I've read all the translated chapters and the raw web novel up until the author's last update over a year ago. The light novel version might differ significantly from the web version, but I still have concerns. I rate it 3 stars, acknowledging that it's not perfect, despite my criticisms. Here are some positive aspects:

    1. The world-building is consistent, which is crucial for me, as an author myself. The laws, magic systems, and distance travel are well thought out, making it a plus.

    2. Character development is handled well. Characters maintain their identities and evolve naturally, avoiding the issue of feeling inauthentic.

    Now, onto the drawbacks:
    1. The plot starts off promising, with a dark fantasy backdrop involving a traumatized teenager seeking justice. However, the focus shifts away from revenge and the pace becomes slow after around 20 chapters.

    2. The main character is a major point of contention. He's overly perfect, lacking any formal training but displaying superhuman abilities effortlessly. His lack of anger, assertiveness, and extreme humility make him feel unrealistic and one-dimensional. Despite saving a princess multiple times, he consistently downplays his achievements and remains apologetic.

The romance aspect, being a potential harem manga, doesn't progress satisfactorily either. While the author might prefer the light novel format, with more novels released, the main character's character traits lead me to believe that the issues may persist.

Overall, while there are redeeming qualities, the flaws in the plot and main character hinder my enjoyment. I remain cautiously optimistic that the light novel might address these concerns, but my expectations are not high.

I believe that the chapters we've read have been outstanding, and perhaps my perspective is slightly biased compared to others. However, I feel that the novel has been somewhat unfairly judged. It stands out as one of the more realistic isekai stories, depicting how characters interact and conduct themselves in society, emphasizing that not everyone will defend others, especially against the nobility or those above them. The plot unfolds with Rio being ostracized due to his dark hair and common background, trying to navigate life at the academy after rescuing a princess. Initially, he faces bullying and isolation. What I appreciate is that the protagonist's character development is well-paced, and readers, including myself, can easily empathize with him. Despite his somewhat overpowered nature, Rio remains earnest and caring, tackling his own challenges with determination. His genuine connections with others, including heartwarming reunions, make for engaging storytelling.

It seems more like a jumbled collection of ideas rather than a coherent narrative. Many books start strong, but unfortunately, the author loses focus after a few chapters, resorting to filling pages with unsatisfactory content.

    Pros:
    1. The main character (MC) is not an otaku, nor does he have a teenage or youthful reincarnation. Instead, he is a relatable college student with exceptional qualities like appearance, upbringing, and athleticism.
    2. The story starts off with a dark tone that is seamlessly integrated, showcasing the harsh realities of society and human nature, such as rape, murder, and abuse of power by other characters.
    3. The MC demonstrates authentic Japanese cultural practices, including showing respect, formal communication, and礼仪, which stands out in novels where the MC typically respects authority figures.
    4. The MC's backstory is well-developed, explaining his skills and abilities without relying on divine interventions, which is a refreshing change from other works.
    5. The MC isn't entirely oblivious to love and affection, adding depth to his character.

    Cons:
    1. Although the MC doesn't actively pursue a harem, the trope still forms organically, which may be a drawback for some readers.
    2. The MC is almost invincible, making it challenging to find meaningful challenges throughout his journey.

    Personal Cons:
    1. Initially, the writing and editing were strong, creating a cohesive narrative. However, around chapters 30-40, the quality significantly deteriorates. The use of Japanese words代替 English ones, inconsistent naming, and unclear intentions become glaring issues, causing a drop in readability.
    2. As I'm reading, the editing errors are so severe that it feels like the novel was hastily put together, as if the content was shredded and pieced back together poorly. This is a major reason why I'm considering discontinuing my read.

Regarding the "pro" mentioned, all the female companions are depicted as lolis, which might be a positive aspect for fans of this genre but a turn-off for others.

The main character demonstrated an abysmal lack of qualities typically found in a compelling protagonist. It's hard to believe that the MC feels disgusted with himself for almost harming bandits, when his actions, like nearly allowing a young girl to be kidnapped despite having suspicions about her fate, reveal him to be a truly despicable individual. This is hands down one of the worst protagonist I've come across. Usually, I can tolerate weak MCs for a while, but this one's toxic mindset makes it the worst I've encountered so far.

The narrative began promisingly, even with a dark undertone, but unfortunately, it evolved into a generic harem story featuring an overpowered protagonist. The initial darkness took a backseat as the plot progressed. Despite that, I might persist if not for the译文 quality, which deteriorated significantly in the later chapters – it was strong initially. In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this book.
