He encounters nobles searching for a princess, saves her, but instead of gratitude, he faces brutal violence. Astonishingly, the king merely demotes the attacker. The MC simply seeks admission to an academy – a reasonable request. It's commendable for him to help, but given his recent near-death experience, one would expect more from the king. Instead of expressing gratitude or justice, the king remains indifferent and inquires about the MC's wish.
The main issue lies with the MC's lack of assertiveness. He appears passive and submissive, enduring beatings without retaliation. This lack of a strong personality or a desire to hold wrongdoers accountable makes the story stagnant. While there are a few characters who trust him, the narrative needs a darker edge for progression. If the MC were to develop a more sinister attitude towards those who harm him or his loved ones, the story might find its direction.
In summary, this is a middling novel that serves as a decent distraction for mindless entertainment.
In another narrative, Amakawa Haruto, coping with his own personal struggles, ventures from another world only to tragically die in a car accident. Unexpectedly, Rio transfers his consciousness into Haruto's body. Together, they live happily ever after, embodying a peaceful nature while excelling in combat.
In terms of storytelling, the series could potentially range from a one-star rating to a four, but when it comes to execution, I'm giving it a more modest one-star评价.
I searched for additional chapters beyond what's available on Novel Updates, and surprisingly, the latest installment was released this year, in March 2023. The story is ongoing and still has a cliffhanger. As of now, there are 22 volumes in total.
Just a heads up, there might be spoilers ahead, so proceed with caution! Here's a brief summary:
The story starts with our protagonist, Rio, reborn into a different world, followed by an Isekai theme in the final anime episode. According to the free chapters available in Volume 22, Rio becomes one of the most powerful beings, transcending human capabilities and even matching god-like powers. Rio's first love, Miharu (also known as Mii-chan), is revealed to be a reincarnation of a god herself. Rio has lived three lives so far, starting as a Dragon god with the power of destruction in his first life, then becoming Haruto and finally Rio after a series of events.
Miharu's past lives are similarly fantastical, with her first life being a Transcendental being capable of predicting the future (she was named Lina before becoming Miharu). The plot takes an interesting turn when Celia, their beloved teacher, is suspected to be a homunculus – a creation – of Lina's disciple, as mentioned by Rio's disciple, Sora.
Aisha remains Aisha, but she also becomes a Transcendental being, still bound to Rio's spirit contract. The complexity of the story has me considering purchasing the entire series, but alas, I don't have the funds for 22 volumes (😢).
As of now, there are 22 volumes, and who knows how many more may come. I'm hoping the author has a long life to complete this epic series, given the abundance of fantasy elements that make it intricate.
In conclusion, I somewhat regret watching the anime first, but I guess diving into this cliffhanger-filled novel is my next challenge (😂). Good luck, and let's give it our best!
Ganbatte ne~~
To those who believe the MC attracts every girl effortlessly, I must纠正 that assumption. The writer meticulously explains the reasons behind each character's affection for him, such as during the village arc and the occasion when noble girls confessed to him at school.
The author attempts to convey profound messages about humanity's capacity for both good and evil, but these come across as clichéd and pedantic, akin to a simplified morality lesson. The characters in this binary world are one-dimensional, with no gray areas, making it difficult to connect emotionally. The main character, though portrayed as virtuous, struggles with dark emotions, which are portrayed in a shallow manner, further distancing readers from the story.
While the novel initially piques curiosity with its diverse settings and fantastical elements, such as encounters with elves and dwarves, it ultimately fails to deliver a fresh or engaging experience. It lacks substance and originality, leaving readers with unfulfilled expectations. To enjoy this novel, it's recommended to approach it with a sense of adventure but lower your hopes for a compelling narrative or groundbreaking content.
1. Despite having no prior life experiences involving extreme danger, the MC maintains an unnaturally calm demeanor during life-threatening situations.
2. Despite his lack of training in his past life, his current weak and malnourished body defies expectations, as he effortlessly evades a skilled knight's sword without using any magical abilities (which he conveniently acquires solely to boost his power).
In this novel, the world is depicted as highly unfair, with everyone else portrayed as utterly incompetent, while the MC appears to be a divine reincarnation – not just of Jesus, but also of Chuck Norris, granting him unparalleled abilities to achieve his goals. Once these "bad" characters are miraculously saved (through the intervention of, let's say, Jesus *ahem* MC), they inexplicably shower him with love and devotion.
