This was one of the greatest discoveries in archaeological history, and when everything gets revealed, it might turn history upside down.
Qin Cheng followed his professor to Xi’an, where the buried treasures of an ancient tomb have been hidden for thousands of years. Then, strange and inexplicable events began to happen….
Every nerve of the archaeologist trembled in excitement and fear, however, he was even more stunned when the sarcophagus suddenly opened, revealing an Emperor, who lived a thousand years ago, “sleeping” inside.
After that, his own heart remained there too……

The storytelling is exceptional, with well-structured plots and a decent pace. The suspense, though, can be quite intense at times. As you progress, near the halfway point and towards the end, prepare for an emotional rollercoaster; don't lose heart, as the resolution brings a satisfying sweetness.
I invite you to explore the masterpiece, "I Excavated An Emperor To Be My Wife," where we have all these elements and more. Despite its light-hearted title, this novel packs an emotional punch. It beautifully captures the extraordinary bond between a ghost and a mortal, against all odds.
Here's a spoiler alert: Qin Cheng fell deeply for Su JingMo after just a few brief encounters. For over 1600 years, or 12 lifetimes, Qin devoted himself solely to finding her, never marrying or having children. All because of a single statement:
"'I snatched you from her grasp,'"
"'And I took you from the heavens.'"
How could one find such unwavering commitment?
I wholeheartedly recommend this novel to everyone. I truly believe it deserves more recognition, as it holds a special place in my favorites list. Give it a try; you won't be disappointed!
The only issue I have, and it's significant, is the reliance on fate as a central theme. Many relationship developments feel superficial, making it difficult for me to fully buy into certain actions within the narrative. The MC and love interest's (ML) relationship after they acknowledge their feelings is sweet, though.
A major plot point involves reincarnation, which leads to characters meeting from previous lives. However, the level of connection between MC and others from those past encounters seems implausible. For instance, the MC's supposed obsession with his past self, despite only a brief interaction, stretches credibility. The love at first sight explanation feels weak, especially considering the MC's tolerance for deceit and betrayal.
Side characters, like Qu Zhiwen and Jiang Ping, face similar issues. Their love is supposedly predestined, but the limited interaction before its revelation leaves me skeptical. Xia Tong, the designated fated love interest, has an awkward rapport with the MC, making her emotional outbursts about his indifference frustrating, given their minimal connection.
While the concept of fate is integral, it's crucial for relationships to feel organic and believable. Simply stating that they belong together isn't enough; there needs to be a foundation of chemistry and connection for readers to invest in the story.
The story revolves around an archaeologist named MC who stumbles upon an ancient tomb. Unbeknownst to her, the tomb's owner is ML, a 1600-year-old ghost emperor. In just a couple of chapters, MC finds herself head over heels in love with ML. The depth of MC's love is extraordinary, as shown in the quote, "Tan Cheng had him in his heart, how could he forget him. Afraid he has already etched Su Jing Mo's name in his soul, never to forget."
Tan Cheng's devotion to Su Jing Mo is无私 and self-sacrificing. He would give anything, even his life, to make Su Jing Mo happy. This love transcends time, spanning 1600 years, making it pure and more profound than any immortal's love. Conversely, Su Jing Mo realizes that Tan Cheng was always the one who mattered to him, and he willingly gives everything for him.
The cycle of longing and sacrifices began with a simple statement: "I'm Su Yunzhi. If I know the nobleman's name, I'll come thank him later." - "I'm Tan... Cheng." That encounter sparked a 1612-year journey of dedication and waiting, with MC waiting for ML across multiple lifetimes without marriage or children.
ML initially had ulterior motives, but his love proves genuine in the end. Despite his initial manipulation, he ultimately risks his immortal soul to protect MC, ensuring his happiness even at the cost of his own existence. He wished for MC to have a happy family after his death, showcasing true love.
Against the backdrop of fate, the couple defies destiny, altering their predetermined lives through the power of their love. Their relationship, without a traditional red string, is tested when MC breaks his own to perform a ghost marriage, sacrificing his good karma and part of his life for ML's resurrection.
The novel is a rollercoaster of emotions, with strong bonds, unexpected twists, and rich Chinese history and mythology. The ending is satisfying, tying up loose ends and answering all questions. After enduring trials, MC and ML find true marital bliss, earning a perfect rating of 11/10.
The supporting characters, like Qu Zhiwen and Jiang Ping, form meaningful connections, and the friendship between MC's friends, Zhang Jun and Wu Hai, showcases a beautiful platonic bond. Even the villains, though complex, have compelling reasons for their actions, making them multi-dimensional.
In summary, this novel combines elements of romance, drama, and historical intrigue, leaving readers with a delightful mix of laughter, tears, and a heartwarming conclusion. It's a must-read for fans of the genre, offering a captivating and unforgettable experience.
