According to popular legend, the war god of Da Liang Huo Wujiu was once captured by the enemy country. His meridians were severed and both his legs broken before he was thrown into prison. In order to humiliate him, that dissolute ruler even gifted him to his cutsleeve brother as a concubine.

General Huo suffered a great deal of humiliation and insult. He bided his time for three years before the cicada shed his skin and he escaped back to Da Jing. After treating his crippled legs, he led his army in three months to storm the enemy’s capital, slaughter its emperor, raze its capital, and finally beheaded that garbage cutsleeve, hanging his head on the city walls for three whole years.

Since then, the world has been united.

——

Jiang Suizhou, a history department graduate advisor at a certain university, received a dissertation which used these unofficial histories of Huo Wujiu as their basis, and criticized the student to no end.

When he opened his eyes again, he had transmigrated into that cutsleeve prince from the stories.

There were lanterns and colorful decorations everywhere. A servant came, sending word that the disabled general of the enemy state had already entered the prince’s manor in his wedding sedan.

Facing down General Huo, who had been tortured to the verge of death, dressed in red wedding clothes, glaring balefully, Jiang Suizhou only then knew – these wild stories could also come true.

And cause him to be beheaded for public display, his head hung on the city walls for three years.

Jiang Suizhou’s only option was to provide for General Huo well.

The overt and covert attacks of the imperial court, the witless ruler’s every possible humiliations — he grit his teeth and absorbed it all, all in the hopes that in three years time, he could but keep this head of his.

Of course, he didn’t dare to even dream of asking this 9 ci* tall “concubine” to actually serve him.

However, before the three years was up, General Huo’s legs actually healed on their own.

Not only did he slaughter the useless ruler and unified the country, but he also forcefully blocked him in the room and insisted on fulfilling his duty as “concubine.”

The only regret I have about this novel is the lack of steamy content, but that shouldn't deter you from reading it. The political aspects are truly captivating, and the main characters, as a power couple, complement each other beautifully. Their strengths perfectly balance each other's weaknesses, making them an ideal pair. While some stories have Danmei elements that can be slightly irritating, this one fortunately avoids that. The palace politics alone will keep you engaged and excited!

This novel truly deserves the glowing 5-star rating from readers. It's been ages since I've found a transmigration story enjoyable. The plot lacks forced sexual content, and the chemistry between the characters feels genuine. I appreciate how their love story unfolds gradually, making their eventual union all the more satisfying. Although I initially sought translated chapters for the ending, I ended up reading the Manhua Translation (MTL) version from beginning to end. I especially loved the modern world side stories. The latest translated chapter I followed was 198, but once I started, I couldn't resist reading until the very last installment.

I delved into the human-translated content initially, but later switched to the machine-translated version, which was quite accessible. The dynamics between the main characters were heartwarming, and the balance between plot and romance was perfect. The political intrigue at court was engaging without being overly convoluted or unrealistic. It's a low-key, enjoyable read with minimal stress.

Lacking visual references for the protagonists, it took me some time to visualize their appearances, which led to a bit of a mental exercise, hehe. Nevertheless, I would wholeheartedly recommend this book.

What a delightful experience! It reminds me of the structure of Golden Stage, but with a calmer tone and less emphasis on politics. The drama effortlessly draws you in, yet it avoids being overly dramatic to the point where you feel the urge to yell at the characters to communicate. I typically don't enjoy plots driven by misunderstandings, but they served a purpose here. I appreciated the unique touch of the protagonist being a history expert in their time period, which adds a fresh twist to the time-travel theme. While the political aspect might lack depth for some, personally, I found it refreshing since it doesn't overwhelm my understanding – for me, it's more of a strength than a weakness.

"This narrative is sheer perfection! The romantic elements are organic and heartwarming, with the characters' interactions brimming with innocence and tenderness that instantly captivate. The storyline, while not packed with elaborate twists, offers a delightful blend of simplicity and unexpected surprises, making it an engaging read. The prose is light and accessible, and the translation is outstanding. If you haven't had the pleasure, I highly recommend diving in – don't hesitate, start now!"

I would rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars. It truly stands out because it offers a well-rounded experience, combining elements like politics, romance, and a healthy dynamic between the main character (MC) and the male lead (ML). Unlike other stories where the MC starts off as overpowered, Jiang Suizhou is refreshingly relatable, neither invincible nor constantly reliant on the ML for rescue. Their relationship is balanced and heartwarming.

The story itself is exceptional and definitely worth reading. However, my one issue is the availability of additional chapters. I've tried to source the extended content, but while the listed ending on this platform suggests there are 13 extras, other websites only have up to chapter 125. I'm eagerly searching for those missing chapters, as I'm dying to continue reading. I've seen comments from others who have access to the rest, so if anyone could kindly direct me to where I can find them, that would be immensely appreciated. Thank you!

This is an engaging historical novel with a straightforward storyline. Despite its simplicity and centering primarily on the protagonists, the compelling nature keeps one hooked. It's a charming and gentle romance with a gradual build-up, perfect for readers who prefer lighter narratives without intense political intrigue. If you're after a sweet, heartwarming love story, this book is definitely worth your time.

I am currently reading the raw chapters, and I must say, I'm enjoying this much more than 'How to Survive as a Villain.' Misunderstandings are handled beautifully in this story.

Surprisingly, I find myself captivated by this narrative and can read it in Chinese without losing interest due to my slower pace. It's delightful witnessing the characters' growing affection for each other, even if they remain oblivious, which is a refreshing take compared to many others where the main character (MC) is clueless until forced by the author.

The male lead (ML) stands out with his well-developed personality, far from the usual one-dimensional stoic and cold character who gradually warms up to the MC. He's an esteemed general, proud and resilient despite his disability. His childhood wild streak and the adorable way he stammers from jealousy make him incredibly endearing.

What truly impresses me is that his disability never diminishes his dignity. The way he supports the MC is simply heartwarming. The pacing of the plot keeps me engaged, but it's the gradual development of their relationship that steals the show – a change from the typical last-minute revelation of love.

I sincerely hope this gem gets a full translation, so those who cannot read Chinese can enjoy it as well, because it truly deserves a wider audience.
