Ngl I'm not really a fan of this growing trend by translators to hold chapters hostage until they get money. A donation out of good will is one thing and I'm happy to do, but a single chapter split into multiple parts and then demanding money to 'access' them otherwise only uploading a single part which is ONE scene on a random schedule is just ughhhh it's like being forced to watch constant ads on a YouTube video you can't skip.My joy for this novel has fallen to complete depths, because each 'chapter' is basically a single conversation or scene and then a jarring stop in the middle. And the worst part is that this was done deliberately in this last arc. As soon as the MC and ML relationship was confirmed, the translator completely changed their schedule and is dragging it out so more people get desperate and give money. Like those mobile games that play on human emotions and lock items so a player hits a sudden barrier and ends up spending money 'because it's just a few dollars that's all'. EDIT: to add on a bit. I think there should be a balance while making money of someone else's book but also making your own original work. Translation is hard and you can totally think of ways to be compensated and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm reading another novel where the translator uploads a chapter a week and offers 5-15 extra depending on the Patreon level. But this translator instead has broken single chapters into multiple parts, called them chapters, and said to join Patreon for e.g. '4 more chapters'. Like what? It feels like like a scam and super shady.
