With manga starting to become pretty cliched, I turned to webtoons like Noblesse and Ben Heun for a style of writing that's more free from demographic cliches and although Tower of God has quite a few cliches, I think it does better with those cliches than mangas like Bleach where steam tends to be lost quite quickly, and that doesn't seem to be the case with Tower of God. Not only that but the characterization is astounding, there isn't a character which seems to be wasted in this webtoon and I appreciate that because it means less wasted space. This is the sort of webtoon that deserves to be serialized in magazines worldwide simply because it's unique in a cliche-saturated world

I dont know why do you guys praise this boring manga so much? The art is extremely bad, and the storyline looks like hell! People, please stop readinh it!
I gave it 0/10, but of course, it's impossible, so 1/10

Love it so far. This manhwa is very intriguing and once I started it, I couldn't stop. The characters are very diverse and I enjoyed reading about this other reality. In my opinion, there was a perfect balance between the hints given and the mysteries in the manhwa. I like the artwork; it's simple, cute, and creative. I hope to learn more about this alternate dimension and Baam as I continue to read.

i know its only been 30 chapters so far and it can take the bleach road and go downhill really fast so ill just review the first 30 chapters.
the fights...the past....the stuff thats kept secret....the in-between stuff = ALL good so far. One of the best ongoing shounen out right now and from the way its been done so far it'll be really hard to mess this up.
    GET IT NOW.

I rarely give out 10s, but as of chapter 30 this manhwa has earned it. The character development is well thought out and the plot takes the story along at a nice pace. Not to fast or slow, not too many battles or too much explanations. The mysteries about Baam and the Tower carry the story on and leave me wanting to see more. And as for comments about it being cliche I have to disagree. Naruto is cliche. This manhwa takes an over-used idea and does it right while retaining the true meaning of the idea through character development; look up the definition of cliche and you'll see I'm right. As for the art, it took some time to get used to the style, but now I think it adds a unique feel and identity to the story.

I wasn't sure at first, because it's pretty strange and the art starts out a little off, but there's something about this manhua that really makes me impatient for each new chapter. Maybe it's the crazy plot twists, or the art that quickly becomes so fantastic I'm jealous, and the complex characters and world building. From the very beginning every aspect of the series is swathed in mystery--the tower, the unseen outside world, the true purpose of the contests and games, the origins of the people that fight, and especially the main character (who or what is he, where did he come from, and why was he able to enter the tower?). There's a lot we don't know, and things are revealed in tantalizingly small portions, so it's like torture waiting for new chapters. But it's the kind of torture you can't stop coming back for... oh dear...

And unlike the typical never ending stream of power battles where the strongest or most resolved one wins every time, there is a lot of very clever strategy and character development to go along with the epic fight scenes. The battles are all different types and have different objectives. It's interesting, unique, and intelligent without being confusing. I LOVE IT.

Although this manga (manwha?) appears to simply be a shonen fighting toon, it manages to elevate itself by casting shadows of a larger world around the reader.
The main character is noble, and unusually (for a fighting manga) powerless, but that's all part of the character's charm - another reason this manga shines.

A comparison could be made to Eva, if you ignore the severe foibles of those characters:
Baam and Shinji are both accepted / protected by the system - even while they themselves (and everyone around them) are unaware why or how.
Both main characters have a single all consuming personal emotional raison d'etre.
At the threshold of their new world they were both tested by an ultimatum issued by a schemer who knew they were special.
    Hospital bed...
befriended by a blue haired kid on the fringes of social acceptance...

In the action category it is easily in my top ten. Subtle story telling that creates its own universe with many twists and turns, story telling that doesn't seem "rushed" with proper build up and anticipation. Characters that are interesting and mysterious, loud and boisterous, and with their owns special skills and abilities. I really like the art work, interesting angles and you can tell the author put a lot of thought into it.

    Easily 10/10 a must read.

One person said it's a bit cliche, but I don't agree. What makes this kid special isn't his "innate power" it's that as an irregular, he is destined to move events, he's really a special kid, and the rest of the characters are pretty interesting as well, each with their own faults and feelings. What really puzzles me though, is whether the blue-haired one is a guy or a girl, cause with Japan these days... you never know, even if they tell it's a guy, you can never be sure there isn't a plot twist somewhere down the road that'll prove differently. Especially with Ch.23, what with the way that ponytail looks and all, I'm not too sure...

It doesn't matter if it's a bit cliched. For me, I've never read this storyline before, so it's fresh and interesting. But what really makes me give the comic a ten is not the plot line or the characters, but the setting. The Tower and the darkness outside it really intrigue me!

My only regret is that I can't rate this 11. As of writing this I've read up to the 14th strip, and what strikes me most about this is how it always keeps me coming back for more. At the end of every strip I find myself looking forward to the next chapter. So far there has been little to no filler too.

the are lots of manga that I love
    to read.

and a manga that uses everything you've got
for survival is one of them!

this manga is like a survival game
from the lowest floor to the top of the tower
if you reach the top then you'll get the prize

of course since the player is desperate he/she
does not care about the consequence and will
attempt to reach the top and for the player
to survive he needs to use all of his resources
including his brain, physical strength... everything
in order to survive now that is what i like the most
using everything you got! not just brains or brawns
    everything that is!...
