There is a reason why this is one of the biggest manga of this generation. That is because its very good. This does has a very Dragon Ball like hero, with the dense and slow to grasp the situation hero who loves to eat, but has a sense of justice and fights for his friends no matter what. It does have very good shounen themes and even created sort of themes that other authors inspire from today.
The thrill of the adventure, having a what seems impossible goal, making friends, having fun, and fighting for what you believe in are all plots that make up this epic story. If you want to find out you will just have to read more to know.
The battles are very enjoyable and sometimes funny because of how they main characters fight in such ridiculous ways.
The character depth is just wonderful. You learn what you need to know about each character to drive the plot and the author gives you such appreciation for each of them too. Each character you love to love and love to hate for the villains even.
It is a great story and the ending is pretty hinted out, but the thing is how is this epic and long story truly going to end? Just going to have to read and find out.
The anime is great even for a long running anime. It did take awhile for the anime to actually get to the right flow and speed where you do not stretch the story too thin that it starts getting dry and tasteless but it does not go too fast where you have to put fillers in it all the time. Also the fillers that they do put in are not so bad that they detract from the story and ruin the flow of it.
Even the recent love interest put in for some romance which is really for comedic relief, but it puts extra plot drive into the story and good humor.

Overall this is one epic adventure or journey with humor and exciting battles. I can not wait to see where the author will go next.

Out of the big 3, I started OP the last. I thought it'll be childish and lame.

    But I was so wrong!

One piece is the best manga I've read! I like how it NEVER loses it's focus, and how well the characters are developed! The story itself, is so well organized, as if the mangaka has planned the ending right from the very start! To anyone out there who says that one piece is childish, you just haven't read one piece enough! And to those who has not yet started on this series, start now! You'll never regret!

    "1 word summary: EPIC!!!!" 2
And that is actually a perfectly precise description of what this absolute masterpiece is.

Of all the mangas I have ever read in my life, this one is the King of the Mountain... by FAR! And that doesn't mean that the other stuff is bad, certainly not, it's just that One Piece is beyond "very good", it's GODLIKE!

The author (or should I say master?), Eiichiro Oda, is a genius. He seems to have started the series on ch.1 already thinking about what would happen at ch.999! All the characters that appear are important, no one is there just to fill the scenario, everything that happens or is told has a meaning and logic behind it, and if you still haven't grasped it, you will later. The story begins slowly (compared to the rest of the manga xD) but it's still a very good beggining (and already with a few glimpses of brilliance by Oda) as each of the main protagonists origin is told and worked upon . I argue that to build a huge statue, you need a very solid base, and I think that's what happens with OP. On the other hand, if I were able to draw a graph about OP using "time" and "quality", I would draw an exponential curve upwards, because that's exactly what happens here: the manga simply never goes down, it just keeps getting better and better, no matter how long you read it! You will always think that the best part of the manga you have read until a certain portion, is exactly "that portion".

If for some crazy reason you don't live near any kind of civilization and still haven't started reading it, what are you waiting for?!?! GO!!!

This is my first and maybe the only comment for manga. One Piece is the BEST MANGA EVER!!!

The story is very good. It is very epic and full emotion. Many readers are moved when they read it, including me..... Character development, is very good. Odachi (the mangaka) describe every character very well. I fell that there is no main character in this manga (well, officially, it is Luffy). Every character has its important role, and not only just once. Their motivation, their reason to live, their background, the event that happen around other character are well told too.

The drawing are very neat. I admit it, at first, i didn't want to read this manga because of the character design and from what i heard, it looks like a foolish or comedy adventure (well, i thought power to stretch looked stupid, and 3 swords with 1 sword in his mouth....non-sense). But after read one book.... WOW!!! This is the best manga i have ever read!!! I feel stupid because of my thought.

The character design is simple, but it has its own charm and compatible with the character. Not to mention, every character can be differentiate easily. They have different hair, clothes, accessories, and FACE!!! Now, I feel that the drawing is very good, it looks like a drawing in the children book, which is full of fantasy.

If that's all about One Piece, I would give 9 for the rating. But the best point in this manga that other mangas never have is..... It is like reading a history or story about other world. Usually the manga only focus to the events that happen the main character and sometimes to the character around him/her. But One Piece is different!

Little by little, we are told what kind of world is One Piece's World. One event connect to other event, and it make a history of that world. And i will give every thumb I have to Odachi. His fantasy is original and SUPERRBB. He told it in many ways. Sometimes he use the cover to tell the story about this world (i have never seen other mangaka do this)

So, don't miss this manga!!! This is a manga that everyone must read.

This manga is an absolute masterpiece. When I fitst saw it, I was in my local library looking for some thing to do because I had just moved, the Internet was not hooked up yet, and my mom had things to do. While I was browsing through the manga, I picked out a random volume of One Piece. I took one look at the cover art and put it back. I thought it was the most rediculous thing I had ever seen. I said to myself that I would never read that manga... Ever. About a year later, I borrowed one of my friend's Shounen Jump magazines. I read through all of the manga it contained and I was completely alien to all of them. I read one called Naruto, it seemed kinda strange with this weird puppet thing that looked like some sort of scorpion. I read it and passed it off as boring. I read this other one about some board game and it bored me to death (I can't remember the name of it and I'm too lazy to search.) I just skipped right over bonobo Bo something like that. I got to One Piece and read it. I had no idea what was going on, but I enjoyed it! There were these weird fish people and some weird guy shooting rubber bands from a hole in a wall. Right in the middle of all the action, some black haired guy who was apparantly stuck underwater shot up screaming "I'M BACK!!!". I was hooked.

About a year after that, I had read no more One Piece other than that chapter. I vaguely remembered enjoying it. I saw that my friend had another magazing and I borrowed it, skipping straight to One Piece. Once again, I had no idea what was going on, but it was all snowy. It looked like the black haired guy wanted a raindeer... Weird. Some funny scnes later, thy are running away from a castle and jumping off a weird mountain. Thier silouette in the moonlight was so comical and so memorable, I swore that I would remember the name and read the manga.

A few months later, I was in eight grade, taking Algebra 1 online in school. I look at my friend's computer and I see she's reading manga. Omg! Manga online! Greatest thing ever! I hopped on the manga train, found a site I liked (mangafox) and started reading... D.N.Angel! Great manga! Then I read Black Cat (which I had read the pilot to in one of my friend's magazines) and then I remembered One Piece and went to it. I never thought I had to scroll so far to get to chapter one...

I read the manga, and loved it! Several years later and several hundred manga later, it it still at the top of my list!!! Sadly enough, for some reason, I can't bring myself to enjoy and One Piece fanfics... Why is that?

Ok, now time for the actual review.

One Piece is rich in plot, charachters, comedy, tragedy, action, everything anyone ever wants. There is no such thing as impossible in this manga. It has everything, EVERYTHING name it, One Piece has it. (even living skeletons with afros... What kind of mind thinks up that kind of stuff? 🙂 ) everyone has read a manga where something is mentioned, but gets forgotten. Maybe has an arc where the charachters just dissappear after and are never mentioned again. In One Piece, that had never happened. Everything is part of the entire (genious) plot. Everything is intertwined, verything is a mystery, everything has you wondering what happens next. Sometime that plot may be a little predictable, but it is always fun! It is true that One Piece has a bit of a formula worked out where everything happens a certain way. However, sometimes that formula is shatterea and it throws ou for a loop and when you expect it to resolve like all the others, it stabs you. This manga makes me cry more than any other; not just because it is a sad moment, but because you have grown attached to whatever happened in the manga. The charachters have so much depth to them, and we feel as if they are real. The main character, Luffy, is strange in this way. When reading the manga, you smile at what he does, and expect him to do certain things, and feel as we really know him. Yet, he is the most enigmatic. Only recently Oda given insight into Luffy's past. It's strange how much we really don't know.

One Piece has a profound amount of depth in everything it has to give. It has taught me many things that I will never forget as well.

Read if you have yet to do so.

This is a serious review with emphasis on the reasons why One Piece might not be for everyone. It seems to be the general consensus that One Piece is unpredictable and inspirational. I however, do not find One Piece at all unpredictable. Although I find One Piece to be somewhat inspirational, the repetitiveness of certain factors become overbearing. It is not the repetitiveness that bothers me, but rather the lack of deviation from the established trend.

There are a few redeeming qualities of One Piece. One is that almost all panels are worth reading, unlike other shounen manga where there are consecutive pages of action sequences—making it possible to finish a chapter in a matter of minutes. Also, the character development for our heroes is notable. The “good” characters that are introduced have different and bright personalities. The antics of the supporting characters are truly what keep the story interesting.

Overall, this manga should be read in moderation. It deserves all the hype that it has been given, because it is truly original and there is nothing else like it. However, it continuously recycles its own formula so its originality dies down after reading consistently. My advice for enjoying One Piece is to treat it like a comic strip rather than a storyline manga

One Piece may not be the best manga of all time since I don't think any manga is worthy of that title, really.

But among the shonen mangas that's another matter. This is the definite shonen, one that actually keeps improving over the time, one that doesn't have age restrictions, one that always keep you hungry for more (you wont get tired of this manga, you'll become a junkie for life)

The one and only shonen manga you REALLY need in your life is One Piece.

Best. Manga. Ever. Been reading this for ages (since ~2005), and it never ceases to surprise and amaze me. I've re-read it soo many times and it still puts me to tears, and makes me laugh my head off regardless of how often I read it. This is by far the greatest shounen I ever read. And how far back this story was thought out is just amazing. If you haven't already, READ IT! And stick with it, it only gets better!
