One Piece

Thugg said everything I had in my mind... but I'm going to comment the art more since some people are afraid to even start reading one piece because of it's style.

If you could stop being an A-hole and stop thinking that art = realistic or Masakazu Katsura then please, believe me: one piece art is PERFECT! It's perfect for shounen, kids and comedic action manga. every character, thing (roses, ships, machines) and scenery is drawn detailed but simply... sometimes when something looks complicated (like again, roses), oda shows us how he draws them and all we can think is "Wow, that looks so... easy!".

Narutards and bleach fanboys won't believe me but pleasea, look closer at the art. See the little details! So much in one scenary I wonder how they (assistants and Oda) have time to do all their work. It's playful, fun and again; simple but that what makes it so awesome! Like dragon ball!

This manga is not the best because of blindness of some jerkish fans, it is the best because of it's unique and highly engaging plot. You cannot even think how the author can surprise you and how the small details can actually make you go numb. When I re-read the series what I saw was that there was some things or some details at the end of each arc which were hard to notice and those minute details went on to make a big and absolutely mesmerizing arc.

Now, moving on. About the characters. The characters all have a very distinctive art with accentuated features. It may look a little odd to begin with but the art slowly grows on yourself. The background art is detailed but I have seen better in many other series. The main thing about One Piece is the main character. I have not seen such a protagonist in any series. Oda makes you love the main character so much that though him being absolutely dumb you hoot for him all of the times.
What many point out is that Luffy does not goes any character development in the whole 700 chapters. Well, I'd say he does undergoes a character development but what makes the main character of this series unique is that his never changing character. Ask any One Piece fan, Luffy changing his attitude or any trait is simply beyond imagination and that is what Oda has sown into the minds of us readers that the main character, no matter what, will not change. As per the character relationships, you'll be damned if you get some better friendship and comradeship views in any other series. The drama, the backstory of every character in the crew of Luffy is just heart touching.

Coming on to the fights, the biggest reason why most of the fantasy and supernatural genre people don't like One Piece is that there no super mode and unbelievable battles in the series. Everything is stitched nicely with the " One Piece Logic ". What amazes me is the randomness of the fights, there is no particular form of fighting that anyone follows. Especially the main character, there is no uniform style. And this is what makes the One Piece fights natural where anything can happen. Also, the addition of the absolutely amazing concept of " Devil Fruits " in the One Piece universe serves as most entertaining element. No matter how goofy people think Luffy looks by stretching his body, believe me when you understand the basics of One Piece it would look pretty damn badass. Also what I like thoroughly about One Piece is that no " Instant Power Ups " are given in the series. Here, the strength either comes from training or devil fruit. The main character has the lowest tier of the ability and there are hundreds of people who could defeat him in a punch. But that's what makes it good and worth reading.

And the last reason why One Piece is the best. The well timed time-skip. I don't think any series has a better time-skip situation than One Piece. When the time-skip gets over, there are just so many things to look forward to that you cannot even count. Even while One Piece has rushed to 707th chapter there are many things we don't know. Time-skip has made everything more interesting, new characters are well placed by Oda and pace of the arcs have been better since then. Also, the coming back of many characters has been the specialty of One Piece. What you may judge has irrelevant and not important could be the game changer.

I think this must have cleared some doubts of the people not liking the series. Unless you give it a try you won't be in a position to judge it and I'am pretty bold to say it that there is no long-term fantasy series as good as this.

One piece is a funny adventure to read. It have wonderful and unique characters, a "road/ocean" trip across a fantasy univers who always surprise me. Each arc have an interesting story and good/awesome fight, but sometimes it tends to stretch before reaching the conclusion(the reason I didn't give a 10), it's probably the only long storyline ongoing manga that I read and I didn't get bored and I always ask for more. The art didn't impress me at first, but it really improve and it is really great now.

One Piece's amount of chapters and slow start can be deterring and many come in with biased view of it because of its popularity, but the majority have spoken and it is a compelling story and exceptional battles.

In a way, this is a rinse and repeat for each arc due to the set up of the fights, but each arc has a LARGE difference in each back story setting, tonality, and pacing. There is ALWAYS something new and something connecting to a previous arc.

Someone soooooo far in the beginning can show up in the latest chapters. It's the little details that make it so great.

Trying to read it won't take but a bit of your time, but if you do, investing time is something that you won't regret.

How can this be considered a masterpiece? No development in 600+ chapters, terrible fights, and the same Shounen loop with some minor tweaks over and over again. Then again, this seems to be one of those manga, where how much you like it directly correlates to how dumb you truly are. Read all the 10/10 comments and tell me I'm wrong. Although I could be wrong, maybe I'm stupid for denying it. I could be missing what makes it so "fantastic" completely, but it could also have no redeemable traits at all, and all the fans are just retards. I don't know, there's too many fans to truly say there's no content to it.
I'll give it a 5, although I hate it, it has a big enough presence that it cannot be so easily dismissed.

My first encounter with One Piece was 4kidz... Absolutely destroyed the series for me for years. I got into Manga 4 years after that, read everything, and avoided One Piece like the plague. Suddenly I got nothing to read, and was like, "what the hell, I'll read this garbage". BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE! I fell in love and One Piece has became my instant favorite. I LIVE for One Piece, unlike other series, their is just sooo much detail in the story, everything connects so well. I just can't get enough.

Also to bleach-No1-manga... Bleach is the MOST overrated series of all time. No plot, jack all for character development, and it's the same crap over and over with with absolute no meaning. Unlike One Piece their is a grand scheme, and everything is being set up for the end. For example, he goes place to place, kicking ass, making new allies where he goes. Everything connects! He fights Shichibukai, Marines, other Pirates. Declared war on the World Government, Big Mom, Doflamingo, pretty much all the Yonko, we seen the war at marineford, and the kind of force it took for even a Yonko to try and fight them. His dad also leads an army of revolutionaries, Oda is setting up for a HUGE battle, bigger than Marineford, with all of Luffy's allies. Just so many little tidbits in every chapter that lead up to huge parts of the story.

Bleach on the other hand.... I'll sum it up for ya and why it's bad.

Yeah it got beyond stupid there... First hallows are the main threat, then soul society, and hallows lose their importance, than bounts, than arracars or whatever, then he is protecting hollows from the quincy. I seriously don't see how someone can put Bleach over One Piece.

one piece is just a masterpiece. no more, no less. Like some people said, Oda created an incredible and unique world, his creativity is just incomparable. I've read so many mangas that I can't even remember the names of most of them (that shows how useless those manga were...) and one piece is definetly my all time favourite. Obviously, like everything, it has his faults, but I think that its qualities make me forget its repetitiveness or whatever fauls you may appoint to one piece.
I just hope I don't die before it ends. (or Oda doesn't...)

One piece - the most epic shounen manga ever ? HELL YES!!! This manga is the only shounen manga that don't make me feel like shit after 500 chapter ( locking at you naruto , bleach etc.....) .Very creative and never bored me . Arc after arc just make it more epic and epic , one piece is the only manga i know that can pull this off .This manga is pure gold , and i hope in the future we can see even more epic things in one piece

And to add to that, the cliche repetition of losing fights once before winning is there for a reason (when it does happen) unlike in other mangas. Unlike many, Oda thinks everything through and doesn't do something as pointless as that just do that to elongate the series, nothing is done without a reason.

For example: Luffy was at first beaten by crocodile but was rescued by Robin, which ultimately made her join the straw hat pirates.

Yeah this manga gets repetitive sometimes, but that's just fine i mean it is pretty long, allows me to stop reading and wait patiently for the chapters to progress some. In the end it's just an amazing world, and you just gotta love luffy's i-do-what-i-want attitude.

btw just wondering. What's the plot of Bleach in your opinion Bleach-No1-Manga?

I can tell you that I have read 600+ manga and the truth is that One Piece:

do not have the best art
not the best characters
not the most mind blowing plot twist
not the best jokes
not the most epicness fights
not the most emotional moments

But level of creativity in its fantasy world the richness of the plot stand in a level far above any manga in history, it's somewhat like the phenomenon happened to Harry Porter. And this quality alone pull One Piece to the unreachable top of Shounen Manga.
