Mannnn i thought this was peak when I first started reading it, but that ending was so… lacklustre. And rushed. Made it feel like reading this was pointless bffr. Completely rushed ending imo. Too much buildup for nothing. Start of the story should have had a faster pace.
MC is cookie cutter for the genre. He wants to train and get stronger for his future revenge quest. Cool story bro, never heard that before. He doesn't really have any other character traits.
The setting is equally bland and un-noteworthy. Finally, to round out the humdrum triumvirate, the plot is an interminable cycle of mission -> boss fight -> rewards -> mission.

It is one of the better martial arts cultivation series.
The fights are usually better done and more comprehensible. The latter fights become more magical, but they still feel increasingly more impressive. Somehow, power progression is mostly maintained.
The series is also more intelligent than most other series in the genre. At some point, the story reaches a large scale war, and the tactics seem to take seriously the idea of individuals being stronger than most armies.
For example, attacks against well guarded positions are performed by the masters, that aren't in real danger from arrows or such, in the vanguard and the weaker forces stay behind for support instead of being pointlessly sacrificed as the spearhead.
season 1: excellent
season 2: very good, some pacing issues
season 3: tediously slow, dragging the story down
still decent, but way too frustrating to follow as a weekly series now due to the glacial pacing.
It was ok at the start but just kept getting more and more preachy over time. At chapter 184 it finally got to the point where I couldn't stand it anymore.
Main character is always preaching to the reader about how the orthodox sects are evil hypocrites and that the demon clan is ACTUALLY the righteous and good clan (even though they put children in a cave where 90% of them die).
Chapter 184 was the last straw, it had a kid preach to the captured prisoners in order to turn them over to the MC's side. And they were converted just like that. So dumb.
Is that they really do milk chapters of this manhwa. It’s still interesting but if you read it week by week the story moves at a snails pace. For new readers it’s not a problem since it has 190+ chapters but now that I have caught up it really dampens the story.
I've read it a few time, probably in my top five so far, my kind of Martial Arts Manhua.
There's none of excessive gibberish typical from martial arts manwas, the story's quite straight forward, doesn't have any fillers and it's mostly in the MC's POV and some scenes of the enemy camp. You really feel how the author doesn't want to milk out the story, only giving minimal recap side notes/scene when needed and one small flashback.
Power levels are consistent and the plot advances at a natural pace, with all the characters showing growth (given the complexity of the story is mostly centred in warfare and vengeance (not as if anyone could go training in the middle of a war)), it has 1 on 1 battles but once they're done they aren't the main focus of the story)
Note: I dont know what tiankioo under me was reading .Was he expecting a love story or the backstory of every random character we see for first time?
