Sergeant Keroro is the leader of the Space Invasion Forces Special Advance Team from the 58th Planet in the Gamma Storm Cloud System. His mission is to gather intelligence on planet Pokopen, also known as Earth, for his planet's invasion force. Interestingly, he is a frog. Upon crash-landing on Earth, he seeks refuge in the Hinata household, but Fuyuki and Natsume, the two children living there, discover him and confiscate his alien weapons. When his own people learn that the inhabitants of Pokopen are aware of his presence, Keroro is left behind, forced to survive on his own in this unfamiliar world. However, he is not entirely alone; four other pre-invasion agents are also hiding out on Earth. (Source: Tokyopop)

What would happen if you gave Doraemon a gun, knife, and bazooka, and there were five of him? You'd get Keroro Gunsou. Each of these Doraemons also has a cute girl to accompany him.
This manga version is more mature than the anime version; occasionally, you see the girls naked. While in the anime Koyuki seems mostly interested in Natsumi as a friend, in this manga she wants more—read: sexually attracted. Her relationship with Dororo is also more suggestive. They sleep under the same blanket.
Sadly, the artwork is bad compared to that of the anime. The girls are not skinny and leggy. I bet if they remade Keroro Gunsou with the same artwork as the anime, it would be huge.

Here's my short review of Keroro Gunsou:

Keroro Gunsou is a slice-of-life and comedy manga, with some ecchi elements that aren't present in the anime. For more details, you can check out the synopsis.

    STORY: 8/10
Each chapter's story is interesting and humorous in its unique way. The plot has some great twists too.

    ART: 7/10
I noticed significant improvement in the art from chapter 1 to beyond chapter 50. It gets better as you go along.

    CHARACTER: 9/10
I absolutely love the characters in Sgt. Keroro, especially Keroro himself. He's incredibly funny and quirky, and his interactions with others are hilarious.

    ENJOYMENT: 8/10
I thoroughly enjoyed this manga. The blend of sci-fi and slice-of-life elements is fantastic, and the jokes are amusing, even if I don't catch every reference.

    OVERALL: 8/10
I highly recommend this manga to anyone who enjoys wacky and insane comedy with extraordinary events.

Keroro Gunsou might be one of the most unforgettable gag comedies ever created. The humor is both hilarious and diverse, with art that's highly detailed, sometimes featuring very unsettling facial expressions crafted by the author.

For fans of the anime, you might assume it's safe for kids. Not quite. Originally a manga series aimed at college students and older audiences, the content is much more intense than its TV counterpart. This allows for even bolder jokes that push boundaries they shouldn't. Seeing these adorable characters in dire situations is one of the manga's greatest strengths. It shares similarities with Ebichu due to its strong animal cruelty scenes and black comedy elements.

    Story 8/10

There isn't much of a story here. Five frogs are sent to Earth (originally called Pokopen but changed to Pekopon in the anime to avoid offending Chinese viewers) with the mission to conquer the planet, which they consistently fail to do. However, there are plenty of standalone episodes that are always fun to read. The story avoids boring topics, incorporates satire, and doesn't know the meaning of "too far".

    Characters 10/10

You'll adore every main character in this show, from the five frogs to their housekeepers. Each character gets their own dedicated chapters. They're unique, entertaining, and full of expressions. Their absence is noticeable early on, proving how integral they are to the manga's charm. Keroro is quick and quirky, Giroro is obsessed with weapons, Tamama has gay undertones, Kururu is an otaku/pedophile, and Dororo is a lonely ninja.

The standout character, Kururu, truly shines in the manga. He appears far more twisted, crude, and sadomasochistic here than in the anime. He has hidden camera footage of everyone in the Hinata household, inflicts severe pain on other characters, and even sells his hidden footage online. He trolls everyone without any conscience.

    Art 8/10

The art is fairly simple, but Mine Yoshizaki showcases his artistic skills through facial expressions. Whenever the characters see something shocking or disturbing, their faces morph into a chaotic mess. These expressions are intricately detailed to make the frogs look as grotesque as possible, transitioning from cute frog faces to horrifying, scary ones straight out of a horror movie.

    Enjoyment 10/10

If you thought Gintama pushed the envelope too far, you haven't seen anything yet. The manga is packed with fanservice and Natsumi's daily frog abuse. There's blood, fast-paced action, and no moral lessons (unlike the anime). The manga never gets old, even by volume 22. It keeps improving with new ideas for each chapter, along with parodies and pop-culture references. The only parts I'd complain about are the chapters based on the second Keroro movie, which feel unnecessary if you've already watched it since they're almost identical, just with more fanservice.

    Overall 10/10

I've never enjoyed any manga as much as this one. It stays fresh (unlike the show) and does everything needed to keep readers engaged. Full of jokes and occasional dramatic chapters that surprisingly manage to evoke emotions, it also features crossover chapters from the author's previous works. The facial expressions remain a highlight.

I recommend this to every anime fan with a sense of humor. It's clever and ridiculous at the same time, poking fun at mainstream anime/manga, especially itself. Breaking the fourth wall is effortless for this manga. Just be warned if you have a weak stomach for blood, as there's quite a bit, though it's always used humorously.

I'm quite surprised there aren't any detailed reviews of Keroro Gunsou, so here we go. It's also known as Sgt. Frog, so you might notice me switching between names.

I'm tempted to categorize part of this manga as slice of life, and for the most part, that's accurate. Most of the fillers involve holidays or traditional Japanese events, which is refreshing to see within a manga. There's no significant romance or action; this manga is all about comedy. And boy, does it get funny and weird.

    STORY: 9/10

Imagine this: frog-like aliens attempt to invade Earth but are caught by two middle/high school kids—one obsessed with the supernatural and the other enslaving the aliens to do housework. How original is that? This is probably the most creative story I've seen in a manga, and so far, it has been successful enough that Keroro Gunsou is released in the US. Why don't we hear more about it? Beats me.

    ART: 9/10

Yoshizaki takes few liberties in drawing Keroro Gunsou. What I really enjoy are the unique facial expressions of the frogs; they seem endless and always funny. Some of my favorite eye styles are included too.

    CHARACTER: 9/10

Some characters are predictable, some are not. They are all unique in their own ways, proven by Yoshizaki's purposefully over-complicated character web he includes in every volume. Quite entertaining to see how the love/hate relationships play out. Did I say entertaining? That leads right into:

    ENJOYMENT: 9/10

Even the fillers are funny and slice-of-life. There's always something new happening, and whatever it is, there's a lot of humor involved. The only reason I didn't give this a 10 was because there are many Japanese jokes I don't understand since I'm not Japanese. The manga tries to explain these so I can understand them, but it's just not as good if I don't know the culture. Still very funny, and the only manga I actually buy.

    OVERALL: 9/10

The average of four 9s is a 9, what a surprise. I definitely recommend checking this manga out though. If you enjoy fun, laughter, good times, and strange plotlines (not always too strange), then you'll love Keroro Gunsou.
