Lance Corporal Dororo, formerly known as Zeroro, is the Keroro Platoon's assassin who crash-landed on Pekopon and was forgotten by his platoonmates, as usual. Shortly after landing, he found himself caught in a bear trap and awaited his lonely death until he was rescued by Koyuki Azumaya, a female ninja, with the help of her dog, Zeroyasha, in the anime. Inspired by this rescue, he decided to follow the way of the ninja and renamed himself Dororo, after the forest where Koyuki saved him. Dororo is often overlooked by the rest of the platoon and most others, except for Koyuki. This neglect triggers his Trauma Switch, causing a gloomy purple aura to radiate from him as he sits in a corner or dark space and cries. His trauma switch is usually activated when reminded of past mistreatment by Keroro during their childhood, such as being used as a shield in a snowball fight, reminiscent of similar treatment during a dodgeball game. He has a deep love for all creatures and nature on Pekopon, stating that he has "fallen deeply in love" with the planet. Consequently, Dororo refuses to participate in plans that might harm people's feelings, damage nature, or endanger wildlife. Alongside Koyuki, he has vowed to protect Pekopon at all costs. As a child, Zeroro enjoyed gardening, which he continues to do. He maintains a beautiful garden in the underground base, growing both Pekoponian and alien plant species. Gardening serves as a form of meditation for him, along with reading and meditating atop high places like lamp posts or trees, enhancing his physical and mental agility. Young Zeroro came from a large, wealthy family but lacked a strong presence, often going unnoticed even when standing right next to someone. Despite this, he formed friendships with Keroro and Giroro, enduring much mistreatment to maintain these relationships. Over the years, Keroro repeatedly broke Zeroro's possessions, stole his strawberries, wrote in his books, and took advantage of his kind nature. Despite the mistreatment, Zeroro retained his sweet, humble, and kind personality, never holding a grudge against Keroro. Instead, he channeled his natural quietness and ability to go unnoticed into becoming an assassin in the Keronian Military, inspired ironically by Keroro. He joined an elite group of assassins led by Jirara before departing for Pekopon as a Lance Corporal (formerly a Private Second Class in the manga). Dororo often ends his speech with "De Gozaru," an archaic form of "Desu," and addresses himself as "Sessha," an old-fashioned term primarily used by samurai. Early in the series, one of Dororo's common actions was to communicate with Keroro and others via paper shurikens that would stick themselves in Keroro's head, causing him to panic until removed by another platoonmate. Dororo could perform this action without needing to be nearby.
