Started reading ch43 and can't continue. Introducing the idea of "patents" into this medieval fantasy society with real gods - is completely infeasible. Enforcement is impossible without good record keeping. How is trade and taxation conducted normally?

Besides, even in real life, patents are already a bullshit world where "invention" is 99.999% nowhere close to actual innovation. It's mostly "use known technique in entirely obvious way in a slightly different situation", and this entire space is filled with lawyers doing what they do best - enable everybody to sue everybody else. It's disgusting and an absolutely shit product of money-hoarding capitalists that reward no inventors and only profit the wealthy and the lawyers.

This idea needs to die in a fire. And I'm speaking as someone who has their name on 20+ patents.
