They do take place in the same universe though along with a bunch of other series under YLAB i think its called the Blue String Universe.

I had to peek at a wiki to even remember who Kazutora is, and I stilld on't remember. I think towards the end the biggest problem of this series was so many characters who act alike, so it's quite difficult to remember who is who and when. Maybe it's better in the anime adaptation.
