Zorom was a low-ranking mazoku in the service of Rezo, the Red Priest. He appeared as an old man with green skin, five red eyes, and wore a hooded cloak. Following the betrayal by Rezo's great-grandson, the Red Priest commanded Zorom to eliminate the traitor and seize the Orihalcon Statue, which secretly housed the Philosopher's Stone. Instead, Zorom found himself battling Lina Inverse and Gourry Gabriev.
Zorom's offensive maneuvers mainly involved swiftly extending his razor-sharp fingernails, attempting to impale Lina and Gourry like spears. None of Lina's attacks seemed effective against him. His situation did not improve when he transformed into his true form—a larger, hunched version of his original self, equipped with two additional arms.
During an attempt to snatch the statue from Gourry, the swordsman unsheathed his Sword of Light for the first time (in the anime) and effortlessly defeated Zorom.
