Yukari Sendo is the top student at Yokai Academy, being the youngest at age 11 (turning 12). As a witch, she wears a classic witch outfit, including a hat and cape, which some students consider against school rules. She often ends her sentences with "desu," adding politeness to her speech. Being a witch, she faces discrimination from classmates who view witches as "Beings of the Borderline"—creatures between humans and the supernatural.
Despite her academic success, Yukari was initially lonely and mischievous before befriending Tsukune and Moka. Initially, she disliked Tsukune, claiming to be in love with Moka, and used magic to drive them apart. However, after Tsukune and Moka saved her from bullies, she developed feelings for Tsukune too, leading to her desire for a three-way relationship.
Though highly intelligent, Yukari has a childlike nature and struggles with deciding whether she loves Tsukune or Moka more. This suggests that despite her young age, she might be bisexual, showing interest in both. In an omake, when asked by Kurumu about her preference, Yukari chose both but then picked Moka.
She frequently clashes with Kurumu, teasing her about her large breasts, but they also team up on occasion, such as during the Witch's Knoll arc. They are friendly rivals. In the anime, Yukari is the only girl in their group to kiss Tsukune.
As a witch, Yukari wields a heart-shaped wand, casting spells often involving tarot cards and washtubs. She can manipulate objects with her wand, using them as weapons, like brooms to chase away Tsukune. A recurring gag involves her dropping a washtub on someone annoying, usually Kurumu or Mizore, sometimes Gin.
Yukari is quite powerful, demonstrating great potential when motivated. For instance, she single-handedly defeated an army of monster plants during the Witch's Knoll arc. Occasionally, she invents strange items, like Gro-Gro Drops for Kokoa, leading to humorous situations. Her parents, skilled in magic, appear during the school festival in the anime, repairing the damaged academy.
