Okino Yoko is a young pop star idol who frequently becomes the center of attention for Mouri Kogorou. She makes several appearances throughout the series, often as a notable guest at social events that eventually turn into criminal investigations. Yoko began her career as part of the quartet "Earth Ladies," alongside Kusano Kaoru, Takeno Yuki, and Hoshino Terumi. The group enjoyed considerable success but eventually disbanded so its members could pursue individual careers. Yoko has since maintained her popularity in both the pop idol and acting worlds. Yoko first crossed paths with Conan, Mouri, and Ran when she sought Mouri's assistance with a stalker who had even broken into her apartment (and of course, Mouri was eager to accept the case). However, upon entering the apartment, they discovered an unknown man impaled on a knife, transforming this case into a murder investigation. Soon, though, Conan deduced that the 'victim' had actually taken his own life: the man was Fujie Akiyoshi, Yoko's former boyfriend who still harbored feelings for her. Due to a tragic misunderstanding, Fujie fell into despair and thrust himself onto the knife, making it appear as if he had been murdered to exact revenge on Yoko. Fortunately, Conan uncovered the truth before any harm could be done to Yoko's career. Despite her grief, Yoko has continued her career and has remained a friend and valuable connection for Conan and Mouri within the TV and idol industry ever since.
