Agasa Hiroshi is an inventor and the closest neighbor to Shinichi, residing in a large house adjacent to the Kudou residence. He earns his living through a wide array of patents and inventions, primarily video games, which the Detective Boys eagerly test. Agasa has been friends with Shinichi and Ran since they were children. After Shinichi was shrunk by APTX 4869, the first person he encountered and confided in was Agasa. Once convinced that the small boy was indeed Shinichi, Agasa became the first to advise him to be cautious in pursuing the Black Organization. He assisted Shinichi in creating his new identity as Edogawa Conan, including developing several gadgets that aid Shinichi in conducting his detective work discreetly. To perfect Conan's cover, Agasa enrolled him in Teitan Elementary, introducing him to the children who would later form the Detective Boys. When Miyano Shiho escaped from the Black Organization, she sought refuge at Shinichi's house but collapsed from exhaustion outside Agasa's door. Agasa took her in, discovered her true identity, and helped her establish a new identity as Haibara Ai. He also informed Shinichi's parents about what had happened to their son. Since these events, Agasa has been an invaluable friend to Shinichi and the Detective Boys, serving as a confidant, paternal figure, and companion. He frequently takes the children on trips, many of which turn into criminal cases. Agasa is jovial and outgoing, with many friends in his community, which aids in covering up Conan's and Haibara's true origins—he simply claims they are children of his friends and acquaintances. Agasa has a particular fondness for pasta and tomato juice.
