yhwach

The current leader of the Vandenreich, the military organization of the Quincies. Around 1000 years ago, Yamamoto Genryuusai failed to kill him, though the exact circumstances remain unclear. During Ichigo Kurosaki's guaranteed absence, Yhwach mobilizes the elite of his army, the Stern Ritter, and invades Soul Society. He orders them to kill all the death gods. As the invasion unfolds, Yhwach encounters Kenpachi Zaraki, and a battle between the two begins. Yhwach easily defeats Kenpachi, commenting on how weak he is. Before he can finish Kenpachi off, he is interrupted by an enraged Yamamoto. After Yamamoto kills a fake Yhwach, the true Yhwach appears behind him. Yhwach then summons a giant reishi broadsword and bifurcates Yamamoto. Before turning Yamamoto's lifeless body to ashes, Yhwach mocks him, saying how weak he has become during the time of peace. Yhwach is revealed to be the creator of the Quincies, with his blood flowing in every one of them. He is partially responsible for the death of Kurosaki Masaki.
