Notes: Yachiru is the shortest member of the Gotei 13. She became a Shinigami without taking the standard exams. Currently serving as the Vice-Captain of the 11th Division, her strength and abilities remain unknown. She is also the president of the Shinigami Women's Association.
Habits: Known to occasionally bother Kuchiki Byakuya. She enjoys teasing Ikkaku about his bald head, giving people funny nicknames, and has a fondness for sweets.
She first met Kenpachi as an infant after he had killed a group of people. Drawn to him instantly, she later stated that it seemed like Kenpachi used blood to wash away the dark, hopeless world she lived in. Crawling over to him, she showed no fear of his sword or the surrounding blood. Kenpachi named himself and gave her the name Yachiru, after the only person he ever admired. Since then, she has accompanied Kenpachi almost everywhere, riding on his shoulder. She considers Ichigo, whom she calls "Ichi," a good friend because he allowed Kenpachi to have a fun fight.
Her Zanpakuto remains unnamed and undrawn, as Kenpachi attacks anyone who threatens her. The hilt of her sword is shaped like a flower, and the bottom of the hilt has wheels, allowing her to drag it behind her instead of wearing it. A recurring joke is her terrible sense of direction, often leading Kenpachi or others down dead ends or away from their intended paths.
Though she appears child-like and carefree all the time, she once displayed incredible power and rage when a messenger tried to interrupt her while watching Kenpachi and Ichigo fight, suggesting that her position as lieutenant was well-earned.
