Dr. Vegapunk is the chief scientist of the SSG and works for the Marines. His research has uncovered the secrets and applications of seastone, the mechanisms behind Devil Fruit powers, and co-discovered the Lineage Factor along with its uses. He is also credited with creating the Pacifista and Seraphim, among other groundbreaking scientific achievements that are considered at least 500 years ahead of current technology. Originally from the technologically advanced Karakuri Island, he now resides on Egghead, where his laboratory is located.
Before joining the World Government, Vegapunk was the director of an outlaw research team called MADS, which included notable scientists such as Caesar Clown, Vinsmoke Judge, Queen, and Buckingham Stussy. After MADS was disbanded and its members arrested, Vegapunk was integrated into the Marines as their head scientist. However, he later became an enemy of the World Government when they sent CP0 to assassinate him.
During the Egghead Arc, Dr. Vegapunk and his satellites become significant allies to the Straw Hat Pirates.
