Nami is the first member of the Straw Hat Pirates to appear in the anime but joined the crew third and became an official member fifth. Known as one of the best navigators currently sailing the Grand Line, she can intuitively recognize and analyze even minor changes in weather conditions, saving the ship and crew from the unpredictable Grand Line weather multiple times.
She has a tattoo on her left shoulder, which replaced her former shark tattoo from her time with the Arlong Pirates. The new tattoo features tangerines and pinwheels, symbolizing her past.
Nami respects Luffy's leadership but often gets frustrated with his irrational thinking and short attention span. Despite this, she trusts him with her life. Although she once deceived the crew, Luffy still trusts her enough to let her safeguard his precious straw hat. She frequently gives orders on the ship due to Luffy’s lack of common sense, much to Zoro’s annoyance. Nami often playfully beats or hits her crewmates for their nonsense, though she never tries to boss Robin around, whom she considers the only person who truly understands her.
Money and tangerines are Nami’s two favorite things. She is greedy and will do almost anything for money, except abandon or harm her friends. After gathering money for eight years, she is naturally accustomed to it but values her friends more. Nami is manipulative and often takes advantage of Sanji’s devotion and Usopp’s skills. Even though Zoro tries not to fall for her schemes, he usually ends up being a victim like the others, often due to debt and blackmail. Nami tends to avoid fights but has become more proactive since inventing her Clima-Tact, a weapon that creates weather patterns, allowing her to fight her own battles instead of being the easy target.
