Usopp is known for his tendency to lie and play pranks on his crewmates or just hang out with Luffy and Chopper. He enjoys telling tall tales to Chopper, who believes him without question, or anyone else willing to listen. Despite his lying nature, Usopp is also known for his perceived cowardice. However, in highly stressful situations, he has demonstrated remarkable courage that surpasses his own self-perception. His resolve strengthens when his friends are threatened or insulted by others.
Though often a complete coward in battle—except when disguised as Sogeking—Usopp plays an essential role within the Straw Hat Pirates. He is extremely handy and can repair almost anything. Inspired by Zoro’s fearlessness and pride, Usopp sometimes looks up to him as a role model. Unfortunately, his lack of self-esteem makes him susceptible to being taken advantage of by Nami, who frequently asks him to create or improve her weapons—a task at which he excels, having invented the ingenious weapon "Clima Tact."
Usopp will fight not only for the well-being of people but also for their ideals and those of a pirate, which he holds in high regard. In battles, he typically tries to deceive his enemies with fabricated stories or mischievous lies. Although physically weaker compared to other crew members, Usopp possesses incredible resilience, one of his best traits alongside his cunning and intelligence, which have saved the Straw Hats multiple times. Additionally, Usopp has exceptional marksmanship skills with his slingshot and is on his way to becoming one of the best snipers in the One Piece world. His ultimate goal is to become a proud and strong pirate like his father Yasopp of the Red Haired Pirate Crew.
